Simple, yet very effective way to work on the šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

As a professional tennis player, I could probably stop him every other shot and tell him what he’s doing wrong.

But he’s 5.

Right now I honestly don’t care if his forehand is perfect. I care that the second my practice is over, all he wants to do is grab his racket and ask, ā€œMom, can we rally?ā€

I want him to love being on the court. The technique can come later.

And honestly, I think this applies to so many sports. ā¤ļø

Stepping away from professional tennis for 8 years was one thing. Coming back and battling non-stop injuries this past season was a completely different test.
I realized grinding through exhaustion wasn’t the answer anymore. My body needed a smarter strategy.
I teamed up with Paul to bring real sports science into my training block, starting with a VO2 max test to see what’s actually happening under the hood. No more guessing—just mapping my engine so I can train smarter, recover faster, and stay healthy on court.
Results are in… we just built from this

Super basic, but one of the biggest movement differences between good players and everyone else.

Always strive to move diagonally to the ball instead of in an ā€œLā€. It saves time, gets you into a better hitting position, and makes it much easier to transfer your weight through the shot.

Small adjustment. Huge difference.

One of the biggest mistakes I see players make on approach shots is running straight through the ball without adjusting their feet.

You end up too close to the ball, lose your spacing, and either overhit or lose control.

The key is to get to the ball early, make those small adjustment steps if you have time, and keep your momentum moving forward toward your target.

A few things I always focus on:

* Early unit turn while moving to the ball.
* Creating enough space instead of running straight at it.
* Adjusting my feet before contact whenever possible.
* Continuing forward after the shot so I can get to the net.

And sometimes you simply don’t have time to adjust. That’s when you need to control your swing, use more topspin, and focus on getting the ball in rather than going for your biggest shot.

Remember, a good approach shot isn’t just about how you hit the ball. It’s about how you move to it and position yourself.

Update on today’s matches. Rained out all day yesterday, was scheduled for 9am this morning and it started raining! Hopefully we can be back on court soon
