Be boring…..ly amazing!!!!🤩

It’s a system. Just like the systems of our bodies, the components that make up the Pilates method are a system.

Everything has a purpose. A role in the big picture.

And its effectiveness is contingent on everything else.

Sure, the exercises and the order are important and but so is building individual skills in all bodies.

Consistency requires accessibility, adaptability.

Continuous progress is only possible by continually challenging effort.

It’s me. I’m scientists. 🧑‍🔬

Fun fact. Pilates does NOT require flexibility.

The equipment gives you the support to feel safe moving in full ranges, to work out the sticky spots not by force, but through balancing tension with relaxation, and trust… in yourself. 🫶☺️❤️

Happy Sunday, Pilates lovers. Love you. Mean it. ❤️❤️❤️

What’s important? 🤔According to the researchers, it’s consistency. 👏👏👏

✨Move away from “one-size-fits-all” prescriptions.

✨Load and volume should be tailored to individual goals.

✨Nontraditional training is highly effective.

✨Advanced techniques are often optional.

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has published a new Position Stand summarizing resistance training recommendations for healthy adults — the first major update since 2009.

The Position Stand synthesized findings from 137 systematic reviews representing more than 30,000 participants, offering the most comprehensive evidence-based guidance to date on how resistance training supports muscle strength, muscle size (hypertrophy), power, and physical performance across adulthood.

➡️ Comment “guidelines” and I’ll auto DM you the summary from the source. You can use it next time the movement police 👮 come for you, and tell them to argue with ACSM. 🤪👍

Duh. Big win for common sense. 🥳👏🤓

I posted about this in my stories when it first came out earlier this year, but lately I’ve been hearing from many people who were turned off from movement altogether by Fitfluencers insisting their preferred way to move wasn’t effective, and it pi**es me off.

There are many points here we argued for what feels like years.

If you’re getting great results you see and feel, and your clients are getting great results they see and feel, that’s what matters.

…but it doesn’t suck to have a little back up. 🤪🤓😏

You may have noticed a shift in some of those who used to be quite outspoken… now you know why.

And just a reminder when the next wave of movement harassment starts, and it will… this too shall pass.🧘‍♀️

My advice is, do what works for you and your body.

Look at the data, yes, of course, but remember that not everyone using the word “science” is qualified to interpret it for you.

With the exception of the last slide, these are all directly from ACSM. Feel free to use any of these points if the movement police come for you.

For a link to this, and the full guidelines, comment guidelines.

Let them argue with ACSM so you can get back to experiencing the joy of movement! (Time spent arguing is time spent not moving. Wink😉)

Stay curious, Pilates people… there’s more to the story!

08/28/2026

Pilates IS science! AND it’s art. 🤝

If you practice the true Pilates method, you’ll see science everywhere.

✨ neuroscience
✨ physiology
✨ psychology
✨ anatomy and kinesiology
✨ biomechanics
✨ ecopsychology
✨ psychophysiology
✨ histology
✨ chemistry

And on and on and on because while Pilates is exercise YES… it’s soooo much more than that.

It’s about the whole of the person and their place in the whole of the world.

And that is what science helps to explain.

We are so lucky to be practicing Pilates today, because we are able to use modern science to explain the original Pilates method that Joseph Pilates created 100 years ago.

It’s why I I love Pilates.

And, it’s why I have been studying anatomy and biomechanics, dynamic neurocognitive imagery™️, experiential anatomy, and mind-body integration for over 10 years, as a Franklin Method®️(L2) teacher!

“To develop a complete mind: Study the science of art; study the art of science. Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.” -Leonardo da Vinci

So many of us get too caught up in the art OR science.

Joseph Pilates called it the art AND science of Contrology for a reason.

✨ Comment “guidelines” and I’ll auto DM you the official press release from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) concisely summarizing the information the REAL EXPERTS want out in the world about the new resistance training guidelines.✨

Data is important. I think it should be used within the context of the big picture and whole person. And i’m pi**ed about how many people were turned off or away to exercise because they were told there was only one way by a fitfluencer who just discovered “science.”
