Sports parents — stop treating the outfield like it’s a punishment. Your athlete is watching your reactions. And when parents complain about where their kid is playing or act like certain positions matter less, that negativity gets transferred straight to the athlete. At the youth level, one of the best things for athlete development is getting experience at multiple positions. You don’t know how your athlete is going to grow, develop, or where they may ultimately fit as they get older. So instead of focusing on status or position labels, focus on development, versatility, and helping your athlete stay positive and confident wherever they are on the field.
