Happy Mother's Day!
*sorry about scheduling training today, oops*

Our penance is training in the rain this afternoon, but this morning we're grateful to the Baraboo Area Fire and EMS District for sharing their apparatus bay for our anchors and rope systems evolutions.

Everybody is feeling lazy when we get home from a week of swiftwater training. Alas, gotta get to cleaning the sand (Menominee River) and mud (Peshtigo River) off the gear so we can head over to whatever the Baraboo River has in store for us next week!

Be sure to keep your rope tangle-free when making a secondary throw. Holding your coil hand steady helps keep the wings of the Butterfly untangled. Another option is the TRU method.

Before you get wet be sure to read the water.

Look for danger spots: strainers, holes, upstream Vs, sieves, obstructions.

Make note of the safe areas: downstream Vs, eddys.

Before you get in the water make sure you have the proper gear: helmet, exposure suit, gloves, boots, PFD

And most importantly...check your p*e flap!
