Twin Cities Folk Dance Village

International Folk Dance comes to Harriet Island on Tuesday, June 30 as part of Tapestry’s outdoor summer series!

Orkestar Bez Ime will be playing live, and we’ll teach each dance before the music starts, so everyone can join in - whether you’re experienced or brand new.

Community Folk Dance Night is starting to develop its own rhythm.

Some comments from dancers this month:

"I felt like I could really do the dances."

"It was fun to make mistakes without worrying about it."

That captures a lot of what we're intentionally creating: more dancing, a relaxed atmosphere, and room to laugh, learn, and enjoy the dances together.

One of the most fun moments came during a mixer dance where a few of us occasionally went the wrong way...and everyone just laughed and kept dancing.

A few moments from recent Community Folk Dance Nights.

Over the past few months we’ve danced in circles, lines, pairs, and sets - learning dances from different cultures, meeting new people, laughing through mistakes, and creating community one dance at a time.

The first photo is from April, where we learned a dance from Mexico using sticks in a circle formation. It was such a fun evening.

If you’ve been curious about joining us, our next Community Folk Dance Night is coming up on Thursday, May 21. No experience needed, all dances taught, and everyone is welcome.
