Last day of warming room and ice rinks at the park will be Saturday 2/14

Update: Saturday, February 14 will be the last day warming rooms are open. The outdoor ice rink season officially ends Sunday, February 15.

Outdoor ice rinks were scheduled to remain open through Presidents Day, Monday, February 16. However, with the warm forecast through the weekend, we’re taking it day-by-day as ice conditions deteriorate under sunny skies and temperatures in the 40s.

Right now, remaining outdoor youth hockey and adult pond hockey games have been canceled, but broomball is on as scheduled through Saturday.

Rink maintenance is done for the year. Even if temperatures drop again, the higher, stronger, late-winter sun causes issues like frost boils, honeycombing and melting along the edges of the rinks which make ice unsafe for skaters.

It was an above-average season for outdoor ice conditions and we were happy to see so many people out enjoying skating, hockey and broomball rinks at 20 parks across Minneapolis.

Our Fire and Ice Event scheduled for this Friday 1/23/26 from 5pm-7pm is CANCELLED due to the frigid temperatures that are expected. The warming room and ice rinks will still be open for our school release day hours of 12pm-9pm.

Winter break has come and gone, and the new year is upon us! 40th st park rang in the new year with a pre-k celebration at our "New year's Sparkle Camp" on 12/31/25. It was an afternoon filled with arts and crafts, group games, and a new years count down!
