BURNING MAN OFFSHORE RACING CLOSES OUT 2026 SEASON WITH PODIUM FINISH AFTER THRILLING BATTLE IN ST. CLAIR

Boat #499 Delivers First-to-Finish Performance Before Season Comes to an End Due to Engine Failure

St. Clair, Michigan — Burning Man Offshore Racing wrapped up its 2026 racing season following an incredible weekend of competition at the St. Clair Offshore event, where Boat #499 delivered one of the team’s strongest performances of the year.

The weekend featured an intense, hard-fought battle between Burning Man Offshore Racing and the talented father-and-son team of Gas Scott Marine Services from Puerto Rico. The two teams pushed each other throughout the race, creating an exciting display of offshore racing that showcased the speed, skill, and determination of everyone involved.

After a thrilling race on the water, Boat #499 crossed the finish line first. Following post-race scoring, Burning Man Offshore Racing was assessed a breakout speed penalty, resulting in an official second-place finish.

Burning Man Offshore Racing would like to extend a sincere congratulations to the Spectre Cat team on their first-place finish. Spectre Cat earned the victory after completing the event without recording a breakout penalty. The team’s accomplishment was even more impressive considering they competed throughout the weekend with only one engine, demonstrating tremendous determination and perseverance.

The team also congratulates Gas Scott Marine Services, the outstanding father-and-son team from Puerto Rico, on their strong third-place finish. They competed with incredible skill, professionalism, and sportsmanship, making for one of the most exciting battles of the weekend. Burning Man Offshore Racing appreciates the opportunity to share the race course with such dedicated competitors and looks forward to future battles on the water.

Following the race, the team discovered significant damage to the starboard engine. After further evaluation, it was determined that the repairs required will prevent Boat #499 from returning to competition for the remainder of the 2026 season.

While the season did not end the way the team had hoped, Burning Man Offshore Racing is extremely proud of the performance, progress, and commitment shown throughout the year.

A special congratulations and thank you goes to team owner and driver Kyle Dietzen for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to Burning Man Offshore Racing. Kyle has built a respected offshore racing program centered around teamwork, perseverance, and a passion for competition. His dedication to the sport, his crew, sponsors, and fans continues to represent everything that makes offshore racing special.

Burning Man Offshore Racing would also like to thank every crew member, sponsor, race official, safety team, family member, and fan who supported Boat #499 throughout the 2026 season. Your support and encouragement are the foundation of this team.

The offseason work begins immediately as Burning Man Offshore Racing prepares for the future and looks ahead to returning to the water stronger than ever.
