2025 | GND Year in Review 🦆
What started on the back porch after the 2024 Worlds Tournament—over a game of spades—turned into something much bigger than we ever imagined.
Chance and I sat there with nothing but a piece of paper, scribbling down names, tossing around team names and jersey designs—but more importantly, talking about what we wanted this team to stand for. What we wanted to build. What we wanted to represent.
The team looked different in various stages throughout the season. Rosters shifted. There were growing pains, adjustments, and lessons learned along the way. But through every phase, the motto never changed.
From day one, this group competed. We earned respect, battled in tough tournaments, and proved that GND wasn’t just another new team thrown together—it was a program built on accountability, trust, and culture.

Beyond the hardware, our guys made a name for themselves well outside our backyard. Several traveled to high-level tournaments like the Pic-O-Dixie in Chattanooga, TN, where they put up 50 runs against one of the top teams in that area and earned respect on a bigger stage.
A few of our guys were selected to compete in the Challenge Cup in Viera, FL at the beginning of the year, representing the State of Alabama. Even more telling, several were selected again for this upcoming year’s Challenge Cup—proof that the talent, work ethic, and culture within this group does not go unnoticed. One of our own, Ralph Compton, was also selected to play in the Vets vs. Celebrities Tournament in Pensacola, an honor that speaks to both the player and the man.
Off the field, this year was just as big.
We celebrated real-life wins together. Jeremy Pope and C**t Steiner welcomed new babies. Chance Goley graduated college, joined the military, and got married—all in the same year. Logan Duplechain earned a promotion with the Fairhope Police Department. Dylon Kirksey finally hit big on his PrizePicks (it really happened). Zach Hardman somehow managed to travel in for what felt like 56 cruises this year, yet still showed up whenever his name was in the lineup.
We also don’t get through a season like this without the people behind the scenes. A huge thank you to the wives, girlfriends, families, and supporters who traveled, sacrificed weekends, chased fields, watched kids, and held everything together so this team could compete. Your support never went unnoticed. And of course, Cricket, our team mascot, who brought the Duck energy everywhere we went and kept spirits high no matter the situation.
It wasn’t all highs. We had tough moments too—personal losses, frustrations, fights, bickering, and some really rough lows. But every time, we picked each other up, had the hard conversations, and came back stronger. That’s what made this group different.
In between the grind, we found balance. We laughed, reset, and spent several pool days at JHud’s house, where the volleyball games somehow became more competitive than our softball games.
And because it wouldn’t be GND without it:
CJ still hasn’t grown any.
Domnick is still our Emo Cowboy.
And Shane still has 50–11 kids.
For a first-year team, the results speak for themselves. But what I’m most proud of can’t be measured in wins or trophies. It’s the buy-in. The resilience. The way this group showed up for one another. The culture that was built from day one.
The foundation is laid.
The standard is set.
And this is only the beginning.
