There’s something particularly hard about watching the dog who once ran everywhere, jumped on everything and never seemed to slow down begin to feel the effects of getting older.

That’s why we’ve become fascinated by the research surrounding aging dogs, arthritis, inflammation, tissue health and mobility—and two peptides that have especially caught our attention are BPC-157 and KPV.

🔬 BPC-157 RESEARCH

BPC-157 has been investigated preclinically in areas involving tissue repair, wound healing and connective tissues, and researchers have actually studied its pharmacokinetics directly in beagle dogs. In that study, BPC-157 was administered intravenously and intramuscularly, and the researchers reported that it was well tolerated by the dogs under the experimental conditions studied.

That makes BPC-157 especially interesting when we’re reading about the challenges associated with aging dogs—including arthritis/osteoarthritis, declining mobility and connective-tissue health.

🐶 AND THEN THERE’S KPV…

KPV is a tiny three-amino-acid peptide derived from α-MSH, and its research story is different.

Researchers are particularly interested in KPV for its potential role in regulating inflammatory processes. In animal models of intestinal inflammation, KPV significantly reduced inflammatory changes and inflammatory-cell activity.

That naturally raises some fascinating research questions when thinking about older dogs, because chronic inflammation is relevant to many age-associated conditions—including osteoarthritis.

Could research into peptides such as BPC-157 and KPV eventually teach us something about inflammation, connective tissue and healthy aging in our four-legged best friends? 🧬🐾
