Sailing The Lake Monona Sailing Club came into being in 1969. Several of the founders are still racing today.

It was created by a fun loving group of sailors who wanted to do a bit of racing with their sailboats. The Club is serious about racing, but it's also family oriented with many of the racing teams being spouses.

I think we were all surprised that we managed to sneak a nice race in after the powerful storm blew through yesterday. Congratulations to Dave and Dave (FS 6193 Too Many Daves) who bested the fleet of 7 Flying Scots.
Next race: Saturday at noon
If you’d like to join us, DM or stop by Stonebridge Park 90 minutes before race start time!

Due to lack of wind, the Saturday race was abandoned. We enjoyed hot dogs and cold beverages at the pier instead. Next race: Wednesday 6:30 pm.

Wednesday evening had absolutely beautiful weather for the LMSC race. 16 boats in two fleets (5 C Scows and 11 Flying Scots) vied for first on the 3 windward/2 leeward leg course. Congrats to Greg (MS111) and Mike (6266) for taking first in their respective fleets!
Next race is Saturday at noon! DM if you’d like to join one of us as crew sometime!

The first Saturday club race is in the books! Congrats to Greg and Will on 3010 for the win in a fleet of 7 Flying Scots. The fleet was a little smaller this weekend as 4 women from the club were down in Richmond competing in the Flying Scot Women’s National Championship. Conditions were tough with very shifty winds and sustained gusts above 20 knots, and they sailed well.

Shout out to Greater Richmond Sailing Association and Kate Gomes for raising the bar on running an absolutely fantastic event - from the excellent race committee to the food to the “concierge trailer launch service.”

5 Flying Scots were out on a beautiful day for the 2nd practice race. There was just enough wind for 2 races. Congratulations to Peter and Rich (2950) for winning the first one and Quinn and Fiona (864) for winning the second.

Next race: Memorial Day, Monday May 25, noon
