TWO PODIUMS TO CLOSE OUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES! 🏁🏆
What a way to finish Maclan's 2026 North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) Championship Series season!
Saturday certainly did not start the way we hoped. Between setup struggles and a mechanical failure, Maclan found himself starting at or near the back of the field in both Junior 160 and Junior Honda.
But by the end of the day, he had brought home TWO podium finishes! 🥈🥉
🏁 JUNIOR 160 | P7 → P3
We thought we had the car dialed in for the cooler morning temperatures. Batch qualifying quickly proved otherwise.
A difficult qualifying effort left Maclan starting P7 in an eight-car A-Main field, with plenty of work ahead of him.
Mac settled into the middle of the pack, running consistent laps while some incredibly fast cars battled up front. With nine laps remaining, an incident involving the leaders and a separate mechanical issue ahead moved Mac into P2 for the restart.
Our buddy Clive Baker got a great jump, and Brayden Kren Racing came charging through the field to take the second spot. Maclan held on to bring home P3 and his first podium of the day!
Not the qualifying performance we wanted, but a solid race where Mac stayed out of trouble, kept his car clean, and took advantage of the opportunities in front of him.
🏁 JUNIOR HONDA | P12 → P2
If we thought the morning qualifying session was frustrating, Honda had another surprise waiting.
Maclan never even got the chance to turn a qualifying lap.
As he rolled onto the track, an engine key sheared, ending our session before it began and leaving him starting dead last in a 12-car A-Main.
With repairs completed and the afternoon temperatures dropping again, we headed into the final race knowing Mac had a lot of ground to make up.
And he wasted no time getting started.
Maclan picked off several positions early before a major incident on lap four collected nearly half the field. His awareness helped him navigate through the chaos without getting caught up in it.
Now running P5, another incident ahead moved Mac into P3 with nine laps remaining.
On the restart, Mac made a heads-up move to take P2 and set his sights on the leader. With Gavin Penn Racing Team applying pressure from behind, Mac kept his composure and brought it home SECOND!
And a huge congratulations to our buddy Lawson Restivo Racing on the win! After taking a hard hit earlier in the day, it was awesome to see him bounce back and take the checkered flag.
🏆 ONE FINAL DAY AT HOME
Two podiums. Two races starting at or near the back. And a driver who stayed focused, avoided trouble, and made the most of every opportunity.
We are incredibly proud of Maclan and the way he finished the NCQMA Championship Series season.
We have spent the year competing against some outstanding young drivers, and the level of competition at our home track has challenged Mac to become a better racer.
What a way to close it out!
But 2026 is no where near finished just yet.
We are heading into two more big race weekends, beginning this week with the final NASCAR Youth Series pavement event in Huntsville, Alabama, followed by the Dixie Shootout Series finale in Georgia.
Two more opportunities to race hard, keep improving, and finish the championship series season on a high note.
