Behind the Scenes: Steve, Community Engagement Coordinator

Steve has been at the heart of many of the vibrant events that bring our community together in his role as Community Engagement Coordinator, planning City special events that includes Celtic Fest, RiverArts, Farmer’s Market, Frostival, Greater Moorhead Days, Halloween events, the Holiday Kick Off, and Mary’s Light Tunnel. He also leads the City’s Canoe & Kayak and Cross-Country Ski programs and regularly assists residents who want to host events of their own. Steve also helps support day to day operations at the Hjemkomst.

Steve shares “Personally, Mary’s Tunnel holds a special place in my heart. Really warm winter activation that is a great winter tradition.”

Steve says the best part of his job is working across the public realm, engaging with community members, solving creative challenges, and helping families enjoy Moorhead’s parks and events. He values the City’s pension plan, the supportive teamwork, and the freedom to think creatively in his role.

“Watching families enjoy our parks, seeing the kids running around playing with sticks during a movie night – It just feels great to create experiences where families and the community at large can just come enjoy the city they live in.”

Thank you, Steve, for being a wonderful example of the people who help make Moorhead’s community experiences so special.
