Knitting needle jewelry! Up cycling hollow knitting needles from into jewelry for my pop up at on June 13, 2026. What do you think?

Some things I’m working on Zenclay Pottery Studio - the pieces on the yellow mat are for an upcoming Raku firing. The big blob will probably be a fake rock (it’s still deciding what it wants to be in my damp box) and the cat-like shape is a whisker keeper (I may make another of those if there’s time). The porcelain earrings all survived the bisque and are ready for the glaze kiln! They look orange right now, but they’ll be glossy black when they’re done. Any thoughts on what the clay blob should become?!

Tuesday’s work at Zenclay Pottery Studio - decorating and glazing 10 more needle minders/magnets and a few porcelain West Virginia ornaments (3 ornaments are spoken for - the remaining 3 are in the list for my popup at Kanawha City Yarn Company on June 13, 2026). There’s 4 hours of work in these two pictures.

Working on a commission using porcelain. I want to start by saying I LOVE porcelain - it’s rich and creamy and lovely to feel. It’s also temperamental and has a great memory. I need 2 sets - one of the larger teardrops and one of the smaller ones. To ensure I get two sets I need to make a few sets. Why? Well, porcelain has memory and sometimes the kiln gods take a sacrifice (or three). Sometimes I’m fortunate and everything turns out PERFECTLY! Sometimes I lose pieces to the bisque fire then again to the glaze fire. Here’s hoping these all turn out beautifully! Any extras will be available at my popup on June 13, 2026, at Kanawha City Yarn Company - hope to see you there!

I attended a great felting workshop today at Kanawha City Yarn Company with workshop instructor Seth from Wild Sage Felt. Y’all - I have never done something like this in my life and it was SO MUCH FUN!! My coo (cow) is preparing for a night on the town. My bestie’s is ready for a fun time! I loved learning something new and the atmosphere at Kanawha City Yarn Company can’t be beat!

Jewelry making! I make my ear wires out of titanium to help with sensitive ears. See anything you like? These items and more will be available at my popup at the Kanawha City Yarn Company on June 13! Hope to see you there!

Working on some jewelry for my popup at the Kanawha City Yarn Company on June 13, 2026! I’m not able to work very quickly or do a ton, but organizing the work is critical. I’m making ear wires while in my soft cast (thumb surgery yesterday to hopefully take care of a pain issue in my first joint due to advanced osteoarthritis) and hopefully put at least a few pieces together. What do you think?!

What the…? Making little magnet/needle minders starts like this. I roll a slab of clay, dust it with corn starch for the impression, cover it with thin plastic (this is from a grocery store produce bag), then cut the shapes. Each of these is currently just slightly smaller than a poker chip. I placed them in a damp box so next week I can clean edges, burnish, and potentially decorate (burnishing takes a little time so that part may happen at home). I also made 5 more gnome forms (they need their little bits that make them look like gnomes) and tried again with coasters. What colors should I use?
