Should the best girls train with boys? We think so, and Loradana Paletta is why.
At 15, she’s Team USA’s youngest player at the U-17 Women’s World Cup. In the opener she scored twice and set up three more in a 17–0 win over Samoa.
She has almost always trained with boys. At home with her older brothers. At our Long Island centers as a U10–U11 player, where we group by ability, not gender. Then as the only girl on NYCFC’s U-15 boys’ academy team.
In 2023 she played two age groups up for us at the Gothia Cup and was outstanding. She was also frustrated. The level didn’t bring the intensity she was used to.
That’s why NCE training groups are mixed. The best girls need to be stretched every week. Their club stays their club. We’re the supplement that adds the stretch.
If your daughter is the best player on her team, when was she last really stretched?
