This is why you should never use a CP product or a Carillo rod in your engine.
In 2013 I used a Carillo rod and in 17.1 hours it snapped. Carillo said I had an oil problem. Funny the top end, cams and journals didn't have an oil problem? No failure there, only the rod failure and it snapped on the bottom not the shank. I simply wanted them to replace the rod, but they denied it. I swore never to use them again. The first 5 pics are from 2013. The next few are recent.
Recently I built a high HP SX engine and was pushed by many other in the industry to use Carillo again, so I did :( . In less than 10 hours this rod also has failed and the bottom end of the rod has become elongated and has lots of slop resulting in a engine that has a loud knock. Fortunately I was able to disassemble before catastrophic failure happened again. Not only has the poor craftsmanship and quality of the Carillo cost me time and labor, but I also have lost the cylinder and the piston from the bearing metal breaking apart and wedging between the piston and the cylinder wall. To Carillo, prob not a big deal, but to the Privateer...$1000....and that doesn't count the labor!
Note to self and all others....DO NOT USE CP OR CARILLO RODS.
