Everglades National Park
Who said alligators and crocodiles can't be friends?! 🐊🤝 Although it's a rare sight, both of these mighty reptiles can sometimes be seen living side by side in Everglades National Park. In fact, southern Florida is the only place in the world where both species co-exist!
Crocodiles typically inhabit coastal, brackish, and saltwater areas while alligators prefer freshwater swamps and marshes. But alligators can tolerate a reasonable degree of salinity for short periods which is why they are occasionally found in brackish water around mangroves.
As seen in this photo, crocodiles, too, are known to venture outside of their primary habitat. At Shark Valley, a freshwater area, Park Rangers and visitors have reported seeing a crocodile swimming and basking around the Observation Tower for years.
