Almost all my clients have seen more than one person to help before finding me. The kicker is that many people they saw did the same thing.
Multiple people tried to stretch something too tight.
Multiple people tried to strengthen some muscles to help them.
Multiple people blamed a weak core or bad posture.
Multiple people said fascia or a trigger point was to blame.

A doctor I respect (and wonโt publicly shame) fielded a question about stretching on her podcastโฆ and just butchered the answer with an overconfident regurgitation of stale fitness and physio tropes dressed up as sensible medical advice.

Understatement of the year: Things can be tough.
Right now it's the aftermath of a hurricane. Other times (or simultaneously) it's stress from work or home life. Sometimes it's physical issues - bad shoulder, tight hip, or a painful foot. I FULLY realize that what I'm about to say is incredibly easy to say, however, it's not a bit less true. No matter what the tough thing is, don't make a decision that makes things even worse. I'm talking about exercise. Don't stop.
Exercise is inherently difficult for many people. So when things get tough, or tougher, exercise can be one of the first things to go. It's understandable. Exercising takes motivation, drive, and willpower, all of which can be in short supply when things get tough. BUT... not exercising makes it worse.
One last, and incredibly important example. When things get tough with your body, stopping exercise is almost NEVER a good idea. Hurting your shoulder doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise the rest of your body. Tweaking your knee, hip, or back doesn't mean you should neglect (or punish) the rest of your body by not exercising.
Let's say you injure your foot. That's a big deal. You use your feet all day every day. Every step is a reminder it's not ok. It never leaves your head. You can't walk without pain. You can't do cardio on the bike without pain. Should you stop exercising? NO! Remember, exercise has system-wide effects, not just local ones. In other words, exercising your arms, hips, abs, and spine muscles, not only benefits them but also your brain, heart, lungs, arteries, veins, bones, and more. It affects your hormonal system and plays a role in your mood. The idea of removing all that because one part isn't ok is not in your complete body and mind's best interest.
I continued exercising when I:
Tore my hamstring
Tore my other hamstring
Tore my quad
Tore spinal ligaments
Tore my meniscus
Tore my labrum
Broke my finger
Broke my toe
Had cervical/shoulder nerve damage
Had plantar fasciitis
And more...
In closing :), even though you can't do the things you'd want to do in the ways you want to do them, don't stop exercising.

Here are 4 recent ones I heard:
1. A weak core is the cause of your back pain.
2. Don't do overhead exercises. Instead, work your rotator cuff muscles.
3. Bands are considered more natural for your body.
4. Using support when you lift weights isn't best for the body.
These statements have so many things wrong with them it's tough to even explain why they are so bad. Suffice to say, they are outdated, illogical, monumentally flawed ways of thinking. Use statements like these as easy ways to identify that someone's way of thinking needs to be updated.

69 yo client had a hip replacement on 5/2022. She wasn't pleased with her PT sessions so she came and asked to work with the Muscle System Specialist at Symmetry Exercise Clinic.
While the picture shows a HUGE increase in range of motion, she also experienced complete elimination of her knee pain and a marked increase in strength.
No stretching, rolling, pushing, scraping, stim, cold, heat, etc. This is different.

Ok so the pic on the left is when I started my appointment this morning and the pic on the right is at the end of my appointment.
Because of my sciatic pain from my herniated disc I havenโt been able to lift my right leg higher than a few inches. Within one session today I was able to lift my leg higher than I have been in months!
Jason Weitzner is seriously a muscle magician. Iโve been going to him for a little over a month now and the improvement is insane.
My first day I walked in there using a walker. Iโm not 100% yet but Iโm on my way to it.
If youโre having any back pain or any other kind of pain I suggest you make an appointment to see him. Heโs awesome!
