The weekend, with the women in my circle, we are embarking on a full moon ritual called Sensual Honey. We are going to do many tangible practices to connect to our sensuality -- our ability to feel physical pleasure via all of the senses (sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste). And spoiler alert, we will use honey, other modalities, and collective spellwork to help us to connect with the senses.
I had an old man click "interested" on my Sensual Honey full moon ritual Facebook event and it made me smile and laugh. I'm sure our sensually and s*xually repressed imaginations can run wild with what it looks like for a bunch of women gathering to focus on sensuality. This is the stuff they burned witches for. Symbolically, that still happen in our culture -- we are so puritanical that anything relating to our own life force becomes taboo or even scary.
Let's take the lid off this mystery box so that it's not scary anymore.
I'm reconnecting with what it means to be connected to simple pleasure. To feel pleasurable sensation in my skin just walking around, or teaching a yoga class, or being with friends. Pleasure is not reserved for s*xual encounters, and the fact that the word "pleasure" is so tied with s*x is, frankly, really annoying.
I'm hoping this particular circle (and others I've done) will help to normalize sensory pleasure as a basic human right. The time of "just surviving" is over. You deserve to feel great. No, it won't be all the time. Life isn't about living in the polarities. But we can cultivate practices that help us live with more pleasure in our lives, each day.
This particular full moon event is a safe way to start to explore pleasure via the senses. If you are a woman in SWFL, we would love to have you at the circle on Friday. The deadline to enroll is NOW... Thursday, May 12th. If you are a man who cares about a woman, send this to her. The more people we have feeling good, the better the world will be.
