What a beautiful week this has been! We tie-dyed t-shirts, painted rocks, made meditation bracelets, calming glitter jars, and thank-you cards, played lots of fun yoga based games, had meditations each day, practiced lots of breathing exercises, learned new words like proprioceptive awareness, spontaneity, and equanimity, learned how to energize when tired and calm down when we’d like to, sang, recited affirmations, read some fun books, and laughed and laughed and laughed. It was good for all of us, and I’m grateful for all these kids who showed up with enthusiasm each day and to their parents who made it happen for them.

“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” - John Kabat-Zinn Tuesday’s lesson was about equanimity. We did balance challenges, learned an energizing breath and a calming breath, did a mirroring activity, and played a steel tongue drum as a form of relaxation.

Yoga camp for 10-14 year olds! July 19-23: Join Ms. Senae for a week of fun active games, yoga, stories, poetry, art, meditations, and meaningful crafts. July 19-23, 9am-noon. Mindfulness, breathwork, gratitude, and positive thinking and affirmations will be integrated into our fun theme of engaging with our inner wild, taming the parts we'd like to tame, and allowing space to engage with the parts that bring us joy. You can expect mindful movement, community building games, and a variety of active and calming activities with a goal of students developing practices they can use in their daily lives, all while having lots of fun! Crafts will include calming jars, tie dye t-shirts with word of their choice, mala bead bracelets, painted stones, and watercolor thank-you cards. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1p-zcvuc69wLkIaN8N7TOKgnUGn-5VgyNcoapfzIwD4Y/viewform?edit_requested=true
