Well hereโ€™s the dealโ€ฆ cravings are actually a form of ๐•”๐• ๐•ž๐•ž๐•ฆ๐•Ÿ๐•š๐•”๐•’๐•ฅ๐•š๐• ๐•Ÿ between your body ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ and your brain ๐Ÿง 

Think of it this way ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ your body is trying to tell you that it needs something. It might need food, but it also might be something else. Something like comfort, nurture, relationship, movement, etc.

Have you ever stopped to think about it in this way?? ๐Ÿ’ก That in times where youโ€™ve overeaten and caved to cravings, you were actually trying your best to respond to the needs of your body!?

Understanding this was a major breakthrough for me and for many of the 1:1 nutrition clients I coach. Once we realize that our bodies are asking us for something, we can tune in, and learn how to best respond. Chances are, there is a much better way than overeating to respond to your bodyโ€™s needs.

Guys, I get it because I WAS THERE. I spent years losing and gaining the same freaking 20-30 pounds.

I know how hard it is to relate to friends, family, and coaches who just donโ€™t get it. They donโ€™t get you and they certainly donโ€™t get your body.

๐Ÿฉ Nothing is sweeter than ๐’ป๐‘œ๐‘œ๐’น ๐’ป๐“‡๐‘’๐‘’๐’น๐‘œ๐“‚ ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Day 3 โ€œ3 mistakes women make over and over when trying to be healthyโ€.

Summer can bring about such a mix of emotions for women. Thereโ€™s excitement and love of sunshine, friends & family, and going adventuring. BUT also a nagging hatred of high-calorie food/ alcoholic beverages, tight fitting clothing, thigh chaffing, and bathing suits.

I used to envy the women who Iโ€™d see smiling in their bikinis on the beach. There was just something there that I wanted and for a long time, I mistakenly thought it was all about their โ€œlooksโ€.

After a lot of reflecting, journaling, and mindset work, I came to realize what I was actually longing forโ€ฆ

I wanted to experience summer (and all of life) without feeling like I was fighting with myself and my body. I wanted a sense of ease, simplicity, and confidence. I wanted freedom!

When I realized that freedom was what I was truly after, I changed my strategy for how I was going to get there.

I stopped entering into the ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฐ๐˜†๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฒ (Day #1 of my mini-training). I stopped doing just the ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค and started doing the ๐•™๐•–๐•’๐•ฃ๐•ฅ ๐•จ๐• ๐•ฃ๐•œ ๐Ÿ’–(Day #2). Most impactful of allโ€ฆ I joined an Intuitive Eating program that actually offered freedom from body & food!

Katriceโ€™s Story

Hi there and thank you for your interest in KMD Get Fit! My name is Katrice Depew and I am an East Nashville-based fitness buff and creator of KMD Get Fit. I graduated in 2013 with a BS from Grand Valley State University (Michigan-native!) and am a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). Everyday I try my best to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle and I hope to inspire all of my clients to do the same!

How I Got Started in Fitness.
Prioritizing fitness hasn't always been important to me. In fact, in my mid-20s, I spent years being overweight, overfed, and being under nourished. When I finally got tired of the way I looked and felt, I tried everything to loose weight and I truly became obsessed with dieting. I would find the latest and greatest diet, and I would go all in. I would read the testimonials, buy all the books, subscribe to all the programs, and purchase all the equipment. I was like a professional dieter and honestly, I got great results. There was only one problem though, the results were temporary. And by temporary, I mean super temporary. What took me 6 months to loose (6 months of depriving myself and feeling miserable I might add) would take me 1 month to put back on once the diet was over. To make things even worse, I always managed to add on a few extra pounds as well. Nothing worked to keep off the weight and I just got heavier.

โ€‹When I moved to Nashville, I decided to hire a personal trainer and I was ready to jump into another diet and extreme exercise program. My coach had something else in mind however, and for the first time in my life, I started weightlifting and a moderate macronutrient-based diet. Weightlifting was so awkward at first. I felt self conscious about my body and I felt like I didn't belong in the same space as all the buff gym rats. I kept going to my personal training sessions though and with a lot of encouragement from my coach, I started to like weightlifting and I have since grown to absolutely love it.

Finding a good coach, starting to lift weights, and having a moderate macro-diet have truly been some of the biggest blessings in my life to date. When I wake up in the morning, I don't dread getting on the scale or what I might see when I look in the mirror. I don't cling to the latest fad diet and I definitely don't feel like I have to deprive myself of food to get the look I want. What I feel now is inspiration - inspiration to get to the gym, lift heavy, and eat foods that fuel and nourish my body. I also feel inspired to help others overcome some of the same challenges I faced, which is why I chose to make personal training my career. I hope that through my story and through my dedication to delivering effective training programming to all of my clients, I can help you to overcome whatever fitness challenges you face. Having a coach has been enormously helpful in my personal fitness success and I hope to help you in the same way. Together I know we can get sustainable results and if you follow my programs, I promise you will get the body of your dreams.
