What can be said when the relentless and indiscriminate fury of nature collides with the violent negligence of systemic failure?
It's too soon to know the full extent of all we have lost and all we have yet to lose, as days slip into weeks. It's too soon to know. Too soon to grieve. Not while our minds and our bodies are on edge. Not while fear and rage, exhaustion and despair rule the day.
As death doula and documentarian Theresa Desautels notes, โThe act of grieving is a privilege. It means you are safe enough to process what has been lost.โ
The day will come when we may grieve together.
Until that day comes, though many remain without power, we are not wholly powerless. We can check on our neighbors, share a warm blanket, an outlet for charging, a cup of coffee, a listening ear. We can plug in with the grassroots orgs doing phenomenal work to support our community. We can use our voices and our stories to petition the powers-that-be to do better. We can embody a better way.
I will continue to repost opportunities to help, as well as resources for those who need them. I have joined in and will continue to join in with local support efforts as I am able. I invite you to join in, as you can, and to share the resources widely, especially with those who do not have access to the internet.
I encourage you to reach out to our community if you have a need. We are not meant to go this alone. You don't have to go this alone.
In love and solidarity,
Krista

Many thanks to everyone who has made the last two years possible:
~ Rev. D. for trusting in the vision two years ago (and for defending it from the naysayers),
~ The organizations, congregations, and individuals who have offered space for our *very secular* groups to meet,
~ Folks near and far who have contributed their time and resources (and reposts) to this truly grassroots work,
~ My family (chosen and otherwise) for their support,
~ And, most importantly, everyone who has attended a support group meeting or Nashville Grief event over the last two years.
It is an honor and a privilege to hold space for our community. None of this would be possible without your continued trust, vulnerability, and authenticity.
Much love,
Krista

Urgent rent support needed for a committed member of our q***r grief community. The challenges of navigating our current job market have put one of our grief community members in a bind. They were unable to cover their rent for November and have also missed a car payment. With December around the corner and no job offers on the table, they are at risk for falling further behind.
They need $750 to catch up on November rent and an additional $750 for December rent. Any additional funds received from our community will help them catch up on their car payment, as well.
Please share and help if you are able. DM for payment info.
