Week 7 and the season is officially over, and our last Sportsmanship winner for the season is Amir González! His award was specifically for leadership as he was our most vocal leader on and off the court, and in basketball and in his non-basketball activities. Amir has played 2 seasons with the Stars and we look forward to many more opportunities with him as a teammate in the future.

We played our next to last game of the season today, and 2 players got Sportsmanship medals today for being the players to show the most dedication. Congratulations Kace and Kai, our week 6 winners!

Playing a little catch-up from the last 2 weeks.
Congratulations to DeKobi Phillips on winning our Sportsmanship award for Week 4 and Kara Yelverton for winning in week 5!
Thos season has been a Rollercoaster every single week, but I truly believe that we have the greatest group of kids playing for us and I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunities each season to coach these kids.
Special shout out to LJ, who plays for the other team, but was kind enough to bring snacks for every player on both teams and even gave me a snack. I might have to go ahead and make him an honorary Stars player for his act of generosity.

Last weekend, the had a "bye-week" in our schedule, so we took the opportunity to get the team together still for a little pizza party!
Afterwards, we took some team photos for the kids' trading cards that I'm working on. Trading cards in youth sports is a rare thing for the players to recieve now days, but I think it's a great way for the season to be remembered for years to come.

Late post, but let's all congratulate 3rd season player and the Stars' toughest little guy on the court, Beck Akins, on being our week 2 Sportsmanship Player of the Game!
After a nasty loose ball collision in the 3rd quarter, and a few minutes to clean up a busted lip, Beck returned to the game and played the entire 4th quarter.
His dedication to finishing the game for his teammates, and the compassion he shows to them as his friends, make this 8 year old boy a true superstar to all of us!

Week 1 Sportsmanship Award Winner for "enthusiasm" is Matvii Pustovit! Congratulations Matvii for always being ready to play no matter how hard the obstacles in front of us are.
Tough loss today 12-6.
The other team has 2 brothers that are very good and played well together. They out-rebounded us and we weren't ready for this first game. That falls on me, the coach, for not preparing them enough. Our 6-4 lead in the second quarter was short-lived, and we tried to play catch-up the whole second half.
Even though it was an uphill battle for the last 20 minutes, they didn't give up. The game was a little more physical than I would have liked for this age group, but they will be stronger for pushing through it and continuing to fight. I am beyond proud of how they played. You can't win every game, and sometimes it just doesn't go our way, but that's okay because we need to learn that losing with grace is just as important as winning with class.
We have a great group of kids again this season and we will have some great victories as a team this year once we get settled in and slow the game down. On to the next game next Saturday! 💯

The Stars are getting a second new player to the team this upcoming season.
Welcome to the team DEKOBI PHILLIPS!
A young man with a lot of team experience on other teams throughout the area is looking to bring his talents to the Stars as we go for a 4th straight league title!
The 7th and final roster spot will be announced tomorrow morning!

5 days away from the 2025 Fall Season tipping-off! The rosters have been made and the schedule is out. Game time information for Saturday will be posted tomorrow.
Unless new players sign up this week, this 5 plus one more new addition will be our Stars team this season! From left to right:
Beck, Matvii, Kara, Kace, & Kai.
Our 6th player will be contacted tomorrow so we can make his formal announcement. His name is DeKobi.
4 of our 6 players are returning from last season and 2 will be first time Stars!

Welcome to the Stars Kai Hong!
Kai is joining the team this fall after playing for Little Dribblers in the winter and wanting to play again with a new team before the end of the year!
Kai will be joining the returning Stars players Kara, Matvii, Beck, and Kace in what will be the 5th season of Stars basketball!

ROSTER ANNOUNCEMENT
Returning for his 3rd season with the STARS, 8 year old shooting guard Matvii Pustovit has led the team in scoring for the past year over his 2 seasons!
He would play every second of every game if he could as he always wants to be an impact for the team, but when made to sit for rest, he's watching the game and looking for ways to help when its time to go back into the game.
Matvii has had multiple 20 point games and even had a game of 16 points with 9 steals last fall season! Matvii will be joining fellow 3rd season player Beck Akins in getting his retired jersey number banner at the end of this upcoming season!
