I’m not sure who runs this page Alaska Sled Dog Circuit but it’s great to see someone covering the races and promoting the sport! 🐶
Another race recap from the 2026 season:
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…Eddie Burke Jr. dominated the race.
The Su Dog 300 held its first running, after a veritable monsoon thwarted attempts to launch this new race last season. 300-mile racing returned to Willow and the Susitna Valley in a big way.
And Burke put on a clinic. He didn’t just win. He won by more than six hours. At 300 miles, that isn’t a margin, that’s command.
Burke kept an undefeated season rolling and further established his team as one of the stories of the winter. He said the route had some of the toughest sections of any race he’d been on, as far as technical driving and climbs.
Behind Burke, Mary Boniface ran a strong race to second place with a team from Jessica Klejka’s Tailwind Kennel.
One of the standout stories of the race came from junior musher AddieAnn Randall, who finished third in her first-ever 300 miler.
Shane Blumentritt brought his team from Caribou Hills home in fourth.
Bayden Ketts, with a team of dogs from the Redingtons, finished fifth.
And Justin Olnes, whose kennel is famously built from rescue dogs, rounded out the top six.
That’s a podium with stories.
Could anyone beat Eddie and Red Dog this season?
Every Race. Every Mile. Every Dog.
