There are 350 adult amateur baseball leagues across the USA. According to MSBL, there are 40K men playing hard ball with wood bats. This concept of senior players, with ages ranging from 25 to 70 years old,is growing. The opportunity to play exists in East Carolina with the ECABL. East Carolina Amateur Baseball League is not for everybody. But if you ever played baseball and thoroughlly understand the game and all of its nuances you will enjoy playing in this league. The semi-pro Coastal Plains League (CPL) played in Historic Kafer Park from 1938 to 1952. During that period it was home to New Bern Bears. Many players passed through Kafer Park most
notably "King Kong " Charlie Keller of New York Yankees. Keller was on 4 World Series championship teams and shared the outfield with Joe DiMaggio.

Did you know of New Bern's connection to the New York Yankees? In the late 1940's King Kong Charlie Keller, who shared the outfield with Joe DiMaggio on 4 World Series championships played at Historic Kafer Park. Today, Adam Warren, a New Bern HS graduate,is a relief pitcher for the 2018 Yankees. There is great baseball history around Kafer Park.
Historic Kafer Park is the home field for the ECABL. The park is located at corner of Cedar and George streets in New Bern. The park was originally built is 1928. It was named after the popular alderman Alfred Kafer.
The Mayor of New Bern, Dana Outlaw will throw out first pitch of the season on April 8th, at 130PM Kafer Park. Don't miss it.!!
Opening Day for 2018 season is just 3 weeks away 8 April. We will start the season with 7 teams. Players must ensure uniforms are complete and ready to go!!!
Opening day for 2018 season is April 8th. Preparations are underway to get equipment, fields, and rosters set for the big day. We hope to open season with 8 total teams. Registration day is February 17 at New Sports Nation 2108 Old Terry Point Road from 10AM to 1PM. Please bring your glove and wood bat if you don't have one yet there will be extras to borrow. There is a $10..00 fee to use the facility.
