Gotta post up on the rail when the cousins are doing cow stuff! Didn't capture the winning run, but congrats on bringing home the jackpot Maryrae Holman 🐄

And better luck keeping your ride next time, Craig! 😂

Show recap, a little late, but this one took some extra time to write.

Berkley and I took on Saratoga Horse Shows Summer Week II in mid-August. This was my first time competing for myself since I lost the only horse that was ever truly mine, and then my entire riding community, in the space of about a year. I genuinely didn't know if I'd ever be back here again and, honestly, there were some days that I wasn't sure I wanted to be.

And then we went and absolutely. f***ing. crushed. it. 🥇🥇🥇

8/12 — 0.60m Jumpers II.2.B — 1st
8/13 — 0.70m Jumpers II.2.B — 4th
8/14 — 0.70m Jumpers II.2.B — 1st
8/14 — $500 Egg & Spoon — 1st
8/15 — 0.70m Jumpers II.2.B — 5th
8/15 — $1000 Sit-A-Buck — DNP, but laughed the entire time (while crying a little inside )

This wasn't just about the dark winter nights we spent building a partnership or the summer of juggling motherhood and extra work to make this show happen - though both of those were real, and both of those were hard. This was about finding out that the dream isn't dead and that Berkley could be the wildly kind and talented horse who brought me back to it.

To those who showed up for this year (especially for our littlest member), THANK YOU! Pretty sure I'd break this app if I tried to list everyone, but I love and appreciate every single one of you.

Paris, I hope you were watching. 💜

We're not done yet.

So in case you haven't heard the big news around here: as of July, we moved into the farmhouse. 🏡

Yep, THAT farmhouse - the historic one on the Cocomeau property, the one I used to walk past on my way to ride and think, "someday." Well, someday showed up! And not just for me - Nile, Normandy, Sophie, and the cats all made the move too.

There's something kind of full-circle about it. I didn't grow up in a barn like this one. I worked my way into this world one lesson, one horse, one early morning at a time - and now my whole family gets to live where I teach, on a property with our village right outside the front door.

More than anything, I'm grateful for this place, for my person, who jumped into this adventure with me, and for every one of you who's followed along on the way here.

Full house, full hearts, and boxes everywhere until further notice. Home. 🐴

If you told me a year ago I'd be competing again (!) at rated shows (!!) as a professional (!!!), I'd have called you delusional. But apparently a little delulu goes a long way when your barn family has your back ❤️

Thank you to for the privilege of working with the best boy for our little pro debut at FSP June II and to the entire team for all of the extra hands that made showing with a toddler not just feasible, but a ton of fun!

Horses are truth-tellers, but a riding simulator is a whole other level of brutal honesty! Huge thanks to Kendra for sharing Blue and her biomechanical expertise during our workshop last weekend - pretty sure those bands are imprinted on my freakin' soul 😂😭

Hi BHSET friends and supporters!

Earlier this week, we made the decision that BHSET would not be attending the final NHHSET show. While we applaud the official and voluntary actions taken by our equestrian community to get the strangles outbreak in hand, the consensus of the team members and both barn communities was that the exposure risk to the horses is still too great.

While this is not an ideal way to close out our season, Ryann and I want to emphasize how incredibly proud of our student athletes we are. Not only did their teamwork shine at the first show, but they have been actively advocating for their horses' welfare throughout this uncertain (and often messy) situation.

We wish all of the competitors and NHHSET volunteers at the Tack Shack a safe, successful, and healthy competition day - and we'll try to put in a word with the weather gods for a break in this rain! ☔
