⚾️ CTX Wildcatters-Grubb 13U ⚾️

The boys were on their way to having a fantastic weekend in Dallas, but Mother Nature had other plans 🌧️⛈️

After going 2-0 on Saturday, the boys earned the #2 seed and a first-round bye heading into Sunday.

Sunday morning they grinded out a tough 5-3 win before severe weather rolled in and canceled tournament before the semifinals game.

Overall, the boys played outstanding all weekend, outscoring opponents 20-4 in 3 games 💪🔥

Another tournament victory for the 12U Benson team taking the NCS Central Texas 12U Open championship at the single day tournament on Sunday.

The team played great all day defeating a SA Kings team that was 3-0 entering the championship game outscoring their opponents 37-2.

The team was not scared and took the challenge head on. In the top of the second a walk by Adrian Vasquez was followed by a double off the centerfield wall by Brody Heflin. Chase Benson gave the team the 1-0 lead with a 2 out RBI single. In the top of the 3rd, Jase Martinez and John Luke Merendino had back to back solo home runs to put them up 3-0. Ackamus Solis had an RBI single to follow an Adrian Vasquez double for the 4-0 lead.

The Kings came back with a 2-run home run, but ultimately fell short 4-3.

Brody Heflin had an outstanding performance on the mound pitching 4 innings allowing only 2 earned runs on 4 hits, 0 walks, and 1 strikeout.

Tournament MVP went to Jase Martinez with 2 home runs and a team-leading 3 RBIs. On the mound, Jase pitched a 5 inning complete game with 3 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and an impressive 9 strikeouts.

Ackamus Solis lead the team in hits with 4!

A bit of a scramble to get some games in with all the weather! But thank you to Keith Hamilton for making it happen with a great single-day tournament.

The CTX Wildcatters 13U Mikes team played up in the 14U division and went 4-0 on the day to take the tournament championship.

Shout out to some standout performances:
Game #1:
Game MVP went to Mason Gilbert: 2-2 with 2 RBI
Hunter Hopkins pitched all 4 innings allowing 2 hits, 0 earned runs, and striking out 7

Game #2:
Game MVP went to Wyatt Schoenvogel with the shut-out, no-hitter on the mound and striking out 4 batters across 3 innings pitched

Game #3:
Game MVP went to Foster Jakovich for an outstanding performance on the mound against the toughest team faced that day. Foster pitched all 5 innings striking out 5, allowing only 4 hits and 3 earned runs.
Offensively, Wyatt Merendino with a double off the fence followed by two intentional walks, Stoney Tims was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI, and Ethan Heflin went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and the go-ahead 2 RBI single to break the tie in the bottom of the 4th!

Tournament MVP went to Stoney Tims for an outstanding weekend playing several positions with no errors and leading the team with 5 RBIs and reaching base on two errors with pure hustle.

Hunter Hopkins was never put out at the plate on the day going 3-3 with 3 RBIs, 4 runs, 3 walks, and 2 HBPs!

Great weekend for the CTX Wildcatters 8U Salinas team. They ended the PG - Cinco de Mayo Fiesta tournament as Finalist going 3-1 on the weekend!
