Ben was selected as our Student of the Month in May, but we didn't have the opportunity to present him with his certificate until now. (We went on summer break.)

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. – Thomas Edison
Everyone struggles with something in life. What is easy for one person may be difficult for another. When we find something difficult, it is easy to give up or to think negatively about ourselves. It is much harder to push through those awkward, uncomfortable, and frustrating feelings to overcome the obstacles we face. It takes courage, determination, and persistence to do so. That is tenacity – being highly determined, persistent, and unwilling to give up, even when facing challenges.
Tenacious accurately describes Ben’s attitude and work ethic. Martial arts is fun, but it can be challenging. It is an activity that requires both mental and physical engagement. Trying to remember how to do the techniques while coordinating your arms and legs to each do something different at the same time is difficult. This often results in feelings of awkwardness and self-doubt for new learners. Ben, however, refuses to give-in to these feelings. He keeps trying, asks questions, and applies instructor feedback. Ben’s tenacious attitude is something to be admired, and it is a character trait that will help him accomplish many things in life.
Great job, Ben! We are proud of you.
