The art of growing and learning is being able to gain strength and encouragement from each other. Too many times we find ourselves in the competitive mode instead of the "girl I got you mode". I gotta send a huge shoutout to Trishon Reaux for her top notch approach to health and fitness and her consistency in completing the with me. You are a great inspiration and I love your spirit. Are you Ready to Take Your Health Back and EAT WELL and LIVE WELL?

In this challenge we will challenge ourselves to eliminate added sugars from our diet. This involves avoiding sugars that are added to foods and drinks during processing or preparation.

Another part of the challenge will be to avoid all processed and packaged foods. We will focus on fresh, whole foods and steering clear of items with long ingredient lists, especially those with additives and preservatives.

Benefits: Cutting out added sugars can lead to improved energy levels and a lower risk of chronic diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

There’s so much to do in New Orleans that will really challenge your health and fitness journey. Festivals, brunches, second lines, concerts, plays, balls …. Never a dull moment in NOLA. That’s why it’s important to build your discipline muscle to say “NO” if it doesn’t move the needle closer to your goal and you know you’re gonna cave in to all the temptations.

Dare to set boundaries when asked to attend an event. This is having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others.

There will be more festivals, more brunches; but right now You got GOALs.

Saying no is an important step in establishing boundaries and having boundaries empowers you.

When you’re first learning to say no, it can feel a bit foreign and complex because you’ve become so accustomed of saying yes.

Here are some strategies to say no...

Leave feelings out of it.

One reason why we sometimes say yes when we should say no is to protect others’ feelings. For example, if you’re asked to join friends for brunch, but you’d really prefer to spend time with your spouse, remove emotions from the equation. You’re not saying no because you dislike their company, or you don’t care about them. You’re saying no to prioritize your yes to spend time with your spouse

No is an important answer because every no saves space for a better yes later on.

B.Y.O.B. BRING YOUR BOO ..... BATTLE OF THE BESTIES LAUNCHING, SO GRAB OUR BOO AND LET'S HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE.

4 Tips for Being Accountable

For many of us the weight crept up when we weren't paying attention. Now we have a battle ahead as it will be a slower process to take off as we get older. Slow, but not impossible, if we stick to it! Some simple tips that may work to enhance the experience by being accountable for your good and bad habits:

1. Reporting In: Whether you do with having a diet/exercise partner you communicate with, or keeping a journal you are reporting in every crumb that enters your mouth and every minute you spend exercising. For many, this is a key to their success. Online programs are popping up to make this easier, weekly meetings and journal; it's finding what works for YOU.

2. Weigh yourself: Again, it's part of that accountability factor. If we fall off the wagon a bit, know that you are going in the wrong direction right away and correct it before it gets out of control. Even better, include taking measurements because if you are engaging in a weight training program you may be losing inches but the scale may not be moving.

3. Take pictures: I have read some stories about women who say "I thought I looked pretty good until I saw a picture of myself". We have all had that experience. Take pictures as you go and photo diary of your process. When you look back you can be pleased to know you are not 'that' person any more and be proud of how far you have come

4. Pick an achievable and realistic goal: If you have an 'event' coming up in a few months, then set a goal weight you can achieve with regular exercise by that time. Perhaps you have a pair of jeans, or a dress you can't get into any more. That can be your goal, to be able to put those on and wear them comfortably.

By tracking, recording and being accountable, most people report a higher success with achieving their fitness goals.
Sticking to a regular diet and exercise program is difficult for many people however with the process being slower as we age (especially over 40) we need to work harder and smarter to get where we want to be.

You cannot let this storm deter you from your goals. The storm will pass, but them extra 5 pounds you put on because you're snacking, munching, stress eating, just because eating, excessive drinking will be hell to get off. I mean is the agony of regret worth it?

Remember what tastes good on the lips, will land on the hips (or somewheres).

So discipline is key. Limit what you bring into the house and move that body.

Now might be a good time for you to start that lifestyle change. Try Intermittent fasting for the next few days.

Personal development is also key to success. Listen to some great audible books to get inspired. Scrolling through FB aint gonna do nothing but keep you stirred up (like a hurricane).

Get you a game plan together to better your mind, body and soul. Remember ... it all starts with you.

There’s the phrase “If you love what you do you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” That’s how I feel about my 23rd year as a fitness instructor for Jefferson Parish Parks and Recreation. Officially made 23 years yesterday.

My journey started under the leadership of Dawn Lauland and I will forever be grateful to her. From the very first day I felt a connection with helping women become healthier and guiding them on their fitness journey.

I have had the honor of training so many people, both men and women; and there was never a day, no matter what I may have been going through personally, that I didn’t show up and pushed them and made sure we were grinding together.

It is because of them, I have become stronger and have no desire to slow down. God willing, I’ll be doing this for years to come.

If I have been blessed with your presence in one of my classes (if you’re still with me or not), let me know. Would love to hear from each of you.

What is your favorite room in your house?

For me, it's my garage (I know, I know .... garages are hot)

I love my workout area and the flexibility of training at home.

Training at home allows me to fit in a workout whenever I'm feeling particularly inspired or energized.

Sometimes when I go to the chain fitness centers, it can be intimidating and discouraging. When working out at home, I can go at my own pace, and I don’t have to worry about the judgement of others.

When it comes to meeting my personal fitness goals, consistency is key. A home exercise routine provides the convenience necessary to never miss a workout.

Now I know what you're saying, But I don't have gym machines at home.

I got a solution for you!!!!! Join our team, "TEAMBEST", for our at home workouts which doesn't require machines. For most workouts you will need a set of dumbbells, a exercise mat, a band, and yoga blocks. And thanks to Amazon, can be delivered to you by tomorrow.

Let me introduce you to the BODi (formerly Beachbody) Workouts. Workouts range from 20 minutes to 45 minutes, beginners to advanced, spinning, stretching, pilates and coming soon kettlebells. ALL DONE IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME.

Right now our team is doing a 6 week BODiLava program and it's only 20 minutes a day, no equipment. The results are coming in and they will shock you.

Comment "At home workout" and let's get started.

I can get you signed up to begin tomorrow. Remember last Monday, you said you would start. Well tomorrow is your Monday.

Today was a sad day for them as they laid their Grandpa Jackie to rest. May they find comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord.
