This year, TWIL will be hosting and co-hosting a number of panels open to all Tulane Law School students. Each panel will have a different theme designed to inform students of the options ahead of them as they prepare to enter the legal field.

“Oh the Places You'll Go: Exploring Different Legal Environments”

Not sure what type of law you’d like to practice? Curious if you’ll be happy where you’re headed? Join us on Wednesday, September 27th from 5-7pm in the MPR for a panel discussion with attorneys from an array of legal careers and different work environments. Learn about life in big, small, and mid-sized firms, public interest work, entertainment law, academic administration, and more. The panel and Q+A session will be followed by a reception catered by Jacques-Imos. All are welcome. Don’t miss this chance to learn and network!

“Women in Sports Law”
Co-hosted with the Tulane Sports Law Society

The panel will explore the perspectives of women in the male-dominated field of sports law. Questions will center around gender stereotypes, the varied work and career paths available in sports law, and how to break into the industry. Panelists will include men and women who work in the field of sports law, including attorneys who represent major sports teams.

“All Things Judicial”

Panelists will include former and current state and federal judges and judicial clerks, who will discuss their individual career paths, the dos and don’ts of courtroom behavior, and the advantages of judicial clerkships, as well as share advice that can only be derived from being on the other side of the bench. A huge thank you to Judge van Meerveld and Chloé Chetta for giving their award-winning Barbie Talk, a discussion on the implicit bias an impossible standards faced by women in the legal field inspired by America Ferreira’a monologue as Gloria in Barbie, culminating in “sexism bingo”. Thank you to the Loyola Women’s Association, New Orleans Federal Bar Association, and the Association for Women Attorneys for joining us. Special shoutout to our amazing Vice President Sascha Leidecker for coordinating and planning!

Guest speaker LaKia Williams, a reproductive Justice advocate, will discuss the origins of the RJ movement and Black women’s involvement throughout history and explain how laws are impacting everyday access to abortion care across the country following the Dobbs decision. Hope to see you all there! 😊
