2017 ~ Rowing History was made. These girls (see asterisk) became the first All-Latina crew to medal at a NYS Rowing Championship. It was a very proud and life-changing day for everyone. Coaches were coach Ed Kennedy, Coach John Kennedy, and Coach Sean Kelleher; Rowers were: Isabella Kavallaris, who is now completing her freshman year at Mount St. Mary College; Eileen Coralles, a very talented artist; Citlaly Garcia, also finishing her freshman year at Mount Saint Mary college, majoring in accounting, and working as Mrs.Lo‘s part-time billing clerk at the law office; and Karla Gunera, who is on FULL scholarship at Catholic University in Washington DC where she is in the
prestigious nursing program and studying to become a nurse practitioner.
* as to that Asterik, Caridad Irizarry was the coxswain in the super competitive Petit finals and helped the girls get through to the finals. She was called away to family matters and Michael LoBiondo, age 13 subbed in during the race to the finals. In an extremely exciting race, the girls came in second and took home silver medals. Hi everyone it’s Mrs.Lo! I just wanted to let you know that Coach Kennedy and I miss all of our swim students and we are thinking of you. We are budgeting funds so that we will be able to bring back the free learn to swim class when it is safe to do so. Unfortunately now is not the time. Rest assured, we are committed to bringing back to class safely and at the right time. Thanks so much and continue to stay active safe and healthy! ~ Mrs. Lo

It’s International Girls Day — as the Founder and Director of America Rows and Swims Newburgh, I’ve been privileged to mentor so many girls over the years in swimming, Rowing, academics and most importantly, life.
