We don’t make small batch rods. We don’t make standard rods, we make one off rods and we collaborate with our customer. I think that’s what I love most about what we do. So many customers become friends. And so many get their rod and share their experiences and adventures. I just love that.
This rod is still going on and is a joint collab with Bart from . It’s a 8 foot fast action Phat glass and this theme rod will be available next week for sale.
Thank you Bart for this opportunity. How do you like the little retro nod on this baby?!! Stay tuned everyone.

My Close friends were right. A few weeks ago I talked about the business and how hard it is to keep up. I was overwhelmed, I admit it. That happens when you are looking down the sights at a 50 year birthday. ( I know some of you are older.) A few commented that I was just in a phase and that I would have another idea to keep me busy in no time. Well, they were right.
I think what I value most about the company I founded is not how many rods we have made, but the people we have met along the way. Which is why I want to test something out and see if you think its a good idea. I really really love when people send me pictures of their adventures. It happens daily, and I LOVE IT!!!
I want to consider making a digital or print magazine called HOME-grown. The idea is that people can either submit an abstract for an article they want to write, or submit an actual article. The writers are our JP Ross customers and friends and the stories are about them with their rods. But mostly about them and stories. As payment, they get digital gift cards for contributing. Serious gift cards. The idea is that some of you will do this more often and become regulars and you can get more rods, reels, and stuff in exchange for your talented writing and photography.
The word HOME is not about home waters, but rather our home grown followers. Dont get me wrong, I think the home waters stories are some of the best tho.
And its not about trout. Its about anything that you want to catch that makes you happy. Ill even accept an article about catching fire flys if its written well and has great photos.
How about a trip in the woods with the kids, or a friends kid. How about a good cast iron corn bread recipe, how about your new fly pattern and the story about how you created it? Anything as long as it supports our mantra... get outside, simply fish, be happy..... don't make it complicated.
I'd like good writing, and good photography. We can publish HOME-grown when we feel like it... and its free and no advertising except perhaps some JP Ross plugs here and there.
Grass roots, home grown stories with JP Ross Rods.
What do you all think?
Anyone want to take a shot at being in the first edition?
Please comment, Id like to get a good discussion on this. And please comment on an idea you have for an article.
