Why do professional sports SUCK? The answer is an easy one. THERE ISN’T ENOUGH TALENT to fill the rosters! Think about it. When there were many fewer teams in the leagues, the competition was more intense and exciting! OK! You had dynasties, i.e., the Yankees, Celtics, Canadians, etc. Exceptions? Certainly! I doubt most of you know this, but back in the day, the Canadians got the first pick in the draft each year, regardless! But you also had the real potential for the smaller teams to pull off the upset, and they also had the talent to make it happen.
I know each of you can cite examples to dispute the above. So, can I. The NFL currently has 32 teams and still wants to expand. How many of those teams do you believe have a REAL CHANCE of winning the SB this coming season? Ten or maybe twelve? If you doubt me, let me pick my 10-12 teams, and I’ll give you the remainder. Wanna bet?
Yes! The money a franchise has in any sport separates the wannabes from the champs. The Baltimore O’s are a perfect example. They spent a lot of $ on one free agent, but that didn’t leave them enough to acquire any pitching. The suck!
EXPANSION and GREED have diminished the talent pool and the competition in pro sports.
