There were two victims of this bike theft. I got the Poeme back, but Clayton Mitchell, who did an honest, honorable and selfless thing by returning it, is out $1,800. So many of you AWESOME PEOPLE have reached out and generously offered to help Clayton Mitchell, father of 8, recoup this much-needed holiday funds. Here's your chance. THANK YOU!

I've regaled (or bored?) many of you with the saga of my stolen bicycle. It's a crazy story, with all the elements of classic drama, including a hero. (I use 'hero' lightly, of course. We're talking about saving a bicycle, not lives.)

But there were two victims of this crime. I got the Poème back. But Clayton Mitchell, who did an honest, honorable and selfless thing by returning it, is out $1,800.

Clayton is a father of 8, and lives in Bakersfield with his 4 kids from his second wife, who, last year, died of cancer. He bought the Poème, thinking he could flip it for extra holiday cash to buy Christmas presents for his kids.

My measly $300 reward doesn't come close to making Clayton whole. So many of you AWESOME PEOPLE have reached out and generously offered to help.

Here's your chance.

Thank you!

Serial Number 3 is BACK! Words cannot express my gratitude to Clayton Mitchell of Bakersfield, Ca - and the Pasadena Police Dept. Like a sick joke, it was stolen at our launch party, and JUST RETURNED by Clayton, who was flying his drone at the Rose Bowl, when he wa approached by a guy selling the Poème. He had a fake bill of sale and www.poemecycles.com on hi phone to show its value. Clayton gave him $1,000 cash plus his DJI Mavic Pro. And when he got home he and his son saw one Facebook that it had been stolen. He called me and said, I think I just bought your stolen bike." SO thankful to Detectives Tim Bundy and Lynda Mercado for taking this theft, and all bikes thefts, so seriously, and of course, teh Man of the Year, Good Samaritan, Good Human Being, and my hero, Clayton, who returned it without any expectation to be compensated, and, who, devote my modest reward, I scout of much hard-earned cash n- and his beloved drone. Also wanted to thank the Cub Room for putting the poster at the register. Love that itsnotabikeshop! And of course Jeffrey and James at The Bloke.

It's a rare happy ending to a bike theft story!

Losing Serial Number 3 is setting in. In fact, its non-drive side crank arm pretty much sums it up...

Can't hurt. It works for lost cats. (Or does it?)

PLEASE HELP FIND THE STOLEN POEME - SHARE THIS POST!

Last night, Sunday, October 27, I launched my line of titanium bicycles, Poème, at the one-year anniversary of a men's store in Pasadena called The Bloke. Within 30 minutes, we discovered someone had stolen a Poème.

It was was last seen in a parking lost near The Bloke, at 380 S Lake Avenue.

It has black leather accents, and the serial number "3" engraved next to a heart cutout on the bottom bracket.

I've had a number of bikes stolen in my life, but this one cuts deep. I've spent the last 3 years of my life scrutinizing the design and manufacturing, from every angle and braze on to the brass thumbnuts on the adjustable read dropouts. It's one of three in the world.

I wish I planned this as publicity or marketing stunt. If only I were that savvy.

PLEASE SHARE... AND HELP BRING THIS BEAUTIFUL BIKE HOME.
