Iāve been sitting with something troubling over the last several weeks.
Between the nursing strikes in NYC and California, the ongoing conversations about āquiet quitting,ā and the steady drumbeat of burnout I hear from leaders and frontline staff alike, it feels like weāre all circling the same question:
What happened to the heart of our work?
I just finished reading Mattering by Jennifer Breheny Wallace, and I canāt stop thinking about how quietly radical this book is for this moment weāre in.
At its core, Mattering is about a very simple, very human need: to feel seen, valued, and significant... not just for what we produce, but for who we are.
Not as a āresource.ā
Not as a line item.
Not as someone whoās only as good as their last metric.
I mean... as a human being.

As we step into 2026, Iāve been taking a quiet moment to look back, not just at the work, but at the people whoāve been part of this space. š
Every message, comment, share, and conversation reminded me that this isnāt just content. Itās connection. What weāve built here feels small in size, but big in heart, and I donāt take that lightly.
This post reflects the moments that resonated most this past year. Seeing what moved you, challenged you, or made you pause has been a reminder of how much we grow when we learn alongside one another.
Some days brought meaningful dialogue. Others brought encouragement right when it was needed. All of it mattered. š„°
Iām deeply grateful for the way you show up, with curiosity, honesty, and care. Your presence is what keeps this work meaningful and keeps me inspired to continue sharing what I believe in.
As 2026 begins, Iām looking forward to more real conversations, more growth, and more moments where we choose connection, especially when itās not the easiest option.
Thank you for being here. Truly.
Hereās to a year rooted in connection, compassion, and continued growth. š

The holidays can feel especially quiet when you live and work alone.
While the world seems louder and busier, itās easy to feel disconnected behind closed doors. If thatās you, here are a few gentle ways to care for yourself during this season:
⨠Take a warm shower or bath
Let the warmth ground you. Itās a simple way to calm your nervous system and create a moment of comfort when the days feel long.
š¾ Cuddle your pet (or someone elseās)
Animals offer presence without expectations. Their quiet companionship can be incredibly regulating, especially during the holidays.
š¬ Connect deeply with a friend for 15ā20 minutes
Skip the small talk. One meaningful conversation can be more nourishing than multiple surface-level check-ins.
š± Stay fully present in conversations
Whether itās over Zoom or the phone, give your full attention. Being truly seen and heard matters more than ever this time of year.
You donāt have to do the holidays perfectly.
You just have to show up for yourself with intention and care.

Thank you, Martin, for your kind words. š
Iām always moved when readers share how Grace meets them where they are. Knowing this story feels relatable, heartfelt, and grounding reminds me why I chose to put these moments on the page in the first place.
This book holds pieces of real lifeāthe challenges, the growth, the quiet victoriesāand my hope has always been that readers see a bit of themselves in it and walk away feeling more connected, more compassionate, and a little less alone.
As the holidays approach, I find myself thinking about how powerful it is to share stories that help us slow down and reflect on what truly matters. If this book has touched you, Iād love for you to pass it along.

Why taking breaks isnāt slowing you down ā itās powering you up. ā”š§
Feeling drained halfway through the day isnāt a failure of focus ā itās a signal. Just like your phone needs recharging, your brain needs intentional pauses to reset and perform at its best.
These 3 simple practices may feel small, but they make a powerful difference in energy, clarity, and creativity: stepping outside for a short walk, listening to music you love, and slowing down with deep breathing.
When we honor our need for rest, we donāt lose momentum ā we gain it.
Sustainable performance starts with self-awareness, not burnout.
š Swipe through for 3 easy ways to recharge during your day.

We all have that moment when an unexpected emotion hitsājealousy, fear, sadnessāand we try to shove it aside.
But the harder we push, the more it lingers. Emotions are not meant to be buried. They are meant to flow through us.
Let feelings flow.
Notice them. Sit with them. Let them move.
Name it to tame it.
Identify what you are feeling without judgment. Naming your feelings gives you power over them, not the other way around.
The real issue is deeper.
Surface emotions are often signals of something underneathāfear of loss, old wounds, or unmet needs. Reflection and journaling help uncover the truth.
True emotional freedom doesnāt come from control. It comes from awareness, curiosity, and self-compassion.
