As we are saying a big HELLO to 2021... let’s also take a few moments to learn from 2020. While we are running away from a challenging and heartbreaking year!
2020 taught me that I can still be virtually close to family and friends, even when we can’t be physically close.
2020 taught me that sometimes it’s ok to just sit on the couch and hope for things to be better... because I will get off that couch and work towards it again.
2020 taught me to take better care of my thoughts, and recognize the rollercoaster of emotions - especially when we can’t control the situation.
2020 taught me that we don’t know what others are going through, and to always be kind to everybody.. even when they disagree with you!
2020 is the year we stayed home, so we can be together.
Good bye 2020... the year was a long one with many lessons! Here’s to a happy, healthy and wonderful 2021!! 🎉🎉

Happy New Year everyone!
May the new year bring more love, more happiness, and opportunities.
I am also hoping for more opportunities to see friends and family in person, and catch up on all the hugs I missed out on in 2020.
May this year be a year filed with highlights and celebrations. And some travel. And races too!
Let’s all make TIME to TRAIN and TRANSFORM... be that body, mind, or spirit. Happy 2021!

“My liefling” made me so proud today. Where we live, our house is one of the higher points in town so all the main roads go down from here. Today she and I were participating in the VR11 challenge and we have a 3K route that is 3.05 km. At about 1.75 km there is a road that leads us homeward with about a 10 percent grade for about 600 meters, there as I turned the corner, I could see her running up the hill. My heart nearly exploded with pride.
If you want to run up hills faster or be a stronger runner, running hills is an excellent way to do just that. Here is a great video Dave Scott put together.

Last weekend - and the week - was so busy and so much fun... that I completely forgot to post!! Ironman VR9 was a TOUGH one again... a half Ironman!! 5 km run, 90 km bike, 21 km run. I tried to ride a Rouvy course, but I don’t have that mileage with hills in my legs yet, so opted for an easier and flat ride. This week Bender and Mu-Dot (our cats) watched us ride. And got it done!! Also decided to run/walk a different route this time, and headed out of town and down our mountain to White Rock... just beautiful scenery!
Another virtual race done... and loving being active every weekend, and still have a goal to accomplish. @ Los Alamos, New Mexico

Our pool is OPEN!! Lap swimming, 1 person per lane, 45 min and pre-booking only.... but it’s open!!
It was so great to be back - especially because everyone was in such a happy mood, everyone saying hello and welcoming us back. It was a wonderful atmosphere!!
I never thought I would miss swimming, or be so happy and smiling with goggle eyes!! 🏊♀️ 🥽 💕🎉

Virtual race complete! The VR8 race was an Olympic distance again with a 3 km run, 40 km bike and a 10 km run/walk. Frank and I did the bike together, but I had to head out straight after to get this done on Sunday - we waited too late! We’ve decided to spread out our training over the whole weekend again - makes it more manageable!! Our super sweet black kitty, Mu-Dot, did stay close to me for the whole bike ride... love how our kitties are our little shadows!! 🐱 💕 Hope everyone can get out there and enjoy some of the summer weather that’s showing up... I’m loving the sunshine!! ☀️ 🌞 @ Los Alamos, New Mexico

As we are working on life’s transformative process it is good to recognize the journey and the life around you instead of trying to reach your time goals, weight goals, distance goals, or any other goals you may have established for yourself. Remember health transformations take time and consistency.

This was a FUN weekend! It was Frank’s birthday on Saturday, so we decided to finish the Sprint for VR7 early - and celebrate with a protein pancake brunch!
1,5 km walk together; 20 km bike and a 10 km run.
What was so fun was to do it with the pro’s on Ironman Live! Watching them race - and this week we were in San Diego - made for the quick miles to fly by, and was very entertaining. We even had Mike Reilly come say hello - so awesome! @ Los Alamos, New Mexico

This weekend Frank and I were suppose to be in Santa Rosa for the 70.3... but instead we ‘raced’ the Ironman VR6!! It was an Olympic distance race again; 3 km run, 40 km bike, 10 km run.
We did the first run as a power walk together and then rode the 5150 bike course in Indian Wells - a race we did before, and it was so fun to see the familiar terrain! The Rouvy platform is very realistic and I enjoyed it! Finished with a 10 km walk... while talking to my mom for Mother’s Day! Great day and weekend!! 🎉 @ Los Alamos, New Mexico

Ironman VR5 done! Wow, that was a really hard one. We were busy with home projects most of the weekend, so I woke up Sunday and decided I’m going to try and get that all done in ONE day - I am too unprepared right now for this. But I did it - and all by myself!! First time doing THAT... it was a 5km run, 90 km bike, and a 21 km run (walk)!! I am loving these virtual challenges and staying engaged and ACTIVE!! 🏃♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️🎉 @ Los Alamos, New Mexico

Our weekend Ironman virtual challenges are now part of the lockdown routine... I even forgot to post about it! This time we were back to the Olympic distance - 3 km run, 40 km bike, 10 km run.
I continue to mostly walk, but trying to add more running. And tried Rouvy for the riding for the first time - it’s a really cool platform where you rode an actual course/route with video footage, so it looks like you’re really there!
This weekend it’s back to looooong(er) course, so we will see how that goes! Both Frank and I are loving these challenges - keeping us a little more accountable, and having something complete and achieve every weekend! 🚴♀️ 🚴 🏃♀️ 🏃 @ Los Alamos, New Mexico

Another weekend... and another virtual race! We are loving these weekend challenges to keep us motivated and keep our spirits high. This weekend was the Ironman VR3 Sprint distance race - 1,5 km run/ 20 km bike/ 5 km run. Quick-quick and really fun!! We also tried to get a family selfie, but our kitties were not in the mood! 🎉💕
