This is hard for us to say, but Sword Class NYC will not be reopening, at least not in its previous form. This has not been an easy decision for us to come to, but the loss of revenue over the past six months combined with the extensive renovations, staffing, and class capacity changes that would be required to meet the city and state requirements has made that unfeasible.
We never imagined that one class a week could grow into a unique and vibrant community of students, instructors, and supporters. We’ve seen our students go on to win national and international championships, become professional blacksmiths, open their own schools, and grow in incredible ways.
There are a lot of unknowns that we’re dealing with right now. What we do know is that we want to continue to serve the New York historical combat community and are already discussing ways we can do that in the long-term.
Thank you to all of you who have joined us on the training floor and at events. We know this isn’t the end of our training and we hope that the lessons, memories, and joy from Sword Class NYC stay with you as they will for us.

On Monday, Governor Cuomo provided guidance for re-opening gyms in New York State. Mayor deBlasio has said that New York City will have more stringent guidelines and inspection processes, but hasn't released any further information at this point.
