Takeover time: PS 150 Farmers Market Edition! 🌽🍎
Our FitKids hit the farmers market and got to shop for their own fresh produce! They even watched a live cooking demo featuring a delicious sweet-and-sour cabbage sauté. 👩‍🍳🥬🧅

We asked questions, explored the market, enjoyed lunch, and wrapped up the day with some fun at the park right across the street. 🏃🏾‍➡️🛝

Big shoutout to the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for providing Health Bucks to make this experience possible! 💚🙌

Takeover Tuesday at P.S. 110! 🎉 Our FitKids kicked off the school year by creating their own personalized MyPlate folders to help them learn all about the 5 food groups and the amazing ways they fuel our bodies. 🥦🍎🥛
We wrapped up the day with a fun round of the Human Knot—a fun way to strengthen teamwork and problem-solving skills. 🤝🪢💪

Meet Dr. Brianna Baker:
Brianna A. Baker (.a.baker) (she/her/hers) is a doctoral candidate in the Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests broadly include sociopolitical determinants of mental health, Black youth and families, and ameliorating sociohistorical racial trauma through community-focused program development and policy-level interventions. Her dissertation explores the complexities the Black mother-daughter matrix related to gendered racial identity and socialization. She hopes to mesh her passions for communications, public health,and psychology to bring African American mental health to the forefront of America’s social, moral, and political agendas to advance racial and health equity. She is excited to be a part of F4K's annual event and believes wholeheartedly in the mission.

Meet Bronx District 18 City Council Member :

Amanda Farías, a proud Bronxite and second-generation Afro-Latina, was born and raised in Soundview. She is a product of local schools and community institutions, including P.S. 69X, Holy Cross School, and St. John’s University, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Government and Politics. Farías serves as the Majority Leader of the New York City Council and represents the 18th District.

Elected to the City Council in 2021 and re-elected in 2023, Farías made history as the first Latina to be appointed Majority Leader. She also chairs the Committee on Economic Development, where she has passed significant legislation to support industrial development, provide discounted ferry fares, and promote equity in economic recovery. Farías is committed to addressing food insecurity and improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers, particularly in working-class communities. Council Member Farias has been instrumental in furthering the mission of FAN4Kids in her district and throughout the city by helping us secure city-wide Speaker Funding!

FAN4Kids was so excited to have New York City Council Majority Leader Amanda Farías , Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and other local elected officials present us with a $139,000 check to our school-based wellness program on Friday, April 11, at P.S. 69 Journey Prep School in the Bronx - .

We we thrilled to host Council Members Kevin C. Riley , Althea Stevens and Rafael Salamanca Jr. who joined Council Member Farías and Speaker Adams to presented the check that will ensure our program continues to help more NYC students and families citywide. FAN4Kids promotes healthy eating, physical activity and lifelong wellness habits in our students and their families, and has been since 2004.

FAN4Kids has held a long-term partnership with P.S. 69 in the Bronx for over a decade. This event highlighted one of our fourth-grade Fit Kid classes and showcased their knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment towards healthier behaviors and mindset.
