Two Shootings In New York City Show Need for Concealed Carry Two recent shootings in NYC highlight the urgent need for concealed carry permits.

Hunter Biden was convicted of three felony gun charges on June 11, 2024, and pleaded guilty to multiple tax felonies for evading $1.4 million in payments to the IRS. Joe Biden later pardoned him of all those charges as well as any related to potential crimes (i.e., he did it but they haven’t discovered those other crimes yet) during the 11 year period from 1/1/14 to 12/1/24. Let that sink in and youll realize how corrupt the Biden family was all that time. “The only thing I care about is that my son is not convicted,” said Joe Biden. I’m glad Hunter’s fake art (aka illegal money raising scheme for the Democrats) fell apart when Joe was no longer in office.

Upcoming NY legislation:

S.362 creates a 10-day waiting period on the purchase of fi****ms. Waiting periods are obsolete because computerized NICS checks are nearly instant. This legislation does nothing to advance public safety, but it would create one of the most extreme waiting periods in the country, seriously delaying a fundamental constitutional right. S.362 is dangerous for those with an urgent self-defense need.

S.399 bans “machine gun conversion devices” and “convertible pistols.” This legislation is purported to extend federal prohibitions to state law, when this legislation goes far beyond, banning many commonly owned semi-auto fi****ms by deeming them “convertible.” This is an outright gun ban. It is already against state and federal law to convert a firearm, rifle or shotgun into a fully automatic.

S.4277 bans .50 Caliber rifles. Criminals do not use these bulky, 30-plus-pound, multi-thousand-dollar precision rifles. The bill targets competitive shooters and collectors, offering no public-safety benefit.

New York already has more than enough laws to prosecute actual criminals. It is time for lawmakers to leave responsible gun owners alone.

Smart guns, or “personalized” guns, theoretically operate using biometrics and only allow one registered user to use the firearm. This legislation calls on the Division of Criminal Justice Services to certify the gun as technologically viable and create a roster. This is nothing more than laying the groundwork for a backdoor gun ban so that once approved, they will make sure new traditional handguns cannot be sold.

Like any gun ban, the notion that this legislation is going to have an impact on public safety is just pure fantasy, or in this case, science fiction. Unfortunately, it’s also an incredibly dangerous bill. What if the gun fails to read your fingerprint and there is a critical delay in a self-defense situation? The one-user gun is also useless to other family members who may have an urgent self-defense need.

Last year, the Assembly passed a similar bill out of committee but did not advance it on the floor. A.1191 has a long way to go in the legislative process. The bill has been referred to the Assembly Ways & Means Committee. There is also a Senate companion bill that must pass the upper chamber. This is a bad idea, and one that should be scuttled immediately.
