Let's Rebuild Cromwell Recreation Center

d condemned after the wrath of Hurricane Sandy on Staten Island as it awaited renovation. Cromwell served thousands of low income and middle income youth and their families since 1936. It was Staten Island’s largest recreation center with mixed use recreation space that included six basketball courts, boxing ring, indoor track and many other uses with people coming from all parts of Staten Island and the other boroughs. We want to get it rebuilt in the vicinity where it once was on the St. George waterfront. We agree with Senator Charles Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand when they both came to visit Staten Island in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and said in 2012 that the “Cromwell Center needs to be rebuilt because it was a vital resource for the community.” We agree!
