NYC Tennis Permit & Court Breakdown

1️⃣ Where to Get Your Permit
In-Person
• Paragon Sports (Union Sq) – as of 3/13
• The Arsenal (Central Park) – as of 3/9
• Other borough park offices – as of 3/9

Online
• Apply online → receive by mail nycgovparks.org

Note: Nov–March courts are permit-free (first come, first served).

2️⃣ Cost
• $100 Adult Permit – 1 hr play at strict parks
• $10 Junior Permit – 2 juniors can hold a court
• $15 Single Play (per person, online option)
• Limited % of courts reservable online at select parks

3️⃣ Locations
UWS
Riverside x 119th St. – 10 Hard Cts
Resurfaced, decent shape. Busy 7–8am + after work. Illegal coaching can be an issue.
Enter 120th & Riverside (a lot of stairs)

Riverside 96th – 10 Red Clay Cts
Nonprofit-run, well maintained. Busy but fair waits.
Enter 95th & Riverside → underpass.

Central Park
96th St – 26 Har-Tru Cts
Iconic setting. Long waits + inconsistent access. Conditions declined slightly post private funding.
Clubhouse: 96th & CPW or 5th.

West Side / Downtown
Hudson River Park – 2 Hard + 1 Singles Ct
No permit needed. Great vibes. Long waits unless early/late.
92 Hudson River Greenway.

Washington Market (Chambers) – 1 Hard Ct
Permit req’d. Unique single court, decent availability.
199 Chambers St.

East Side
East River Park – 12 Hard Cts
Recently rebuilt. Great views. Less convenient location.
Enter Delancey/Grand/FDR.

Pier 42 Rooftop – 4 Hard
Permit req’d. Good condition. Windy at times.
Montgomery & South St.

Sutton East – 8 Red Clay (Indoor)
Summer: ~80% of courts go to permit holders.
488 E 60th (under 59th St Bridge).

Bonus
Sportime Randall’s
Quality courts. Free during select permit hours.
1 Randall’s Island.

Octagon (Roosevelt Island) – 6 Hard
Separate NYS permit (rioc.ny.gov).
