Looking through photos from over the years always hits me.
Some people stay. Some people move on.
But everyone who stepped on these mats is part of the fabric that holds this dojo together.
Every round, every class, every laugh, every hard day.
Grateful for all of it.

Hot take.
The adults who sit around debating whether a 9 year old “deserves” a black belt are usually the same people who are stalled out in their own lives.
Grown adults, burning mental energy policing the progress of children that aren’t theirs is absurd. Kids who show up, train hard, listen, improve, and are guided by qualified instructors who actually know them.
Asserting that a child should never earn a blackbelt is not a standard.
Thats insecurity in disguise.
If a child’s belt rank bothers you more than your own lack of progress, fitness, discipline, or purpose, the problem isn’t the Dojo or the kid.
It’s you.
Black belts for children aren’t about ego or domination. They’re about confidence, commitment, consistency, and growth at an age when quitting is easy and distraction is everywhere.
Instead of obsessing over what a 9 year old is “allowed” to earn, maybe ask yourself why their progress triggers you.
Focus on your own training.
Your own growth.
Your own life.
Leave the kids alone.

What are the faces of Jiu Jitsu artists supposed to look like?
Most people imagine fighters, champions, warriors carved out of stone. But the truth is way better than the myth.
The real face of Jiu Jitsu is the nurse finishing a double shift and still showing up to train. It is the dad who sneaks in a class between work and bedtime stories. It is the kid who was once too shy to speak but now ties their belt with confidence. It is the teacher, the barista, the accountant, the mom, the teenager, the retiree.
Jiu Jitsu belongs to regular people living real lives. People who carry stress, responsibility, and hope. People who step on the mat not to fight others but to discover themselves.
There is no perfect face for Jiu Jitsu.
There is only yours.

👊 Families that kick together, stick together! 💥
At our dojo, we love seeing parents and kids training side by side learning discipline, building confidence, and laughing through the chaos.
It’s more than just martial arts — it’s quality family time, shared goals, and memories that last a lifetime (plus a few funny stories about who forgot to tap.
Whether you’re a seasoned martial artist or stepping on the mat for the first time, training as a family brings everyone closer — and shows your kids what commitment and courage really look like.
Bring the crew down this week and see what it’s all about.
