Harry Styles sat down with Haruki Murakami for our cover of the new issue of Runner’s World, and for those of you curious about the award-winning novelist and his own journey with running, you can learn more about him and his story.

Murakami, who authored the popular running memoir "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running" and has completed over 25 marathons, spoke with Runner’s World in 2005 to explain how both his running and writing go hand-in-hand.

I am heartbroken I have to say goodbye to my beautiful girl Kiyoshi.🐕👑💔 She has led such an inspiring, adventurous life and proven how resilient and strong animals can be. After I rescued her in 2020, she was diagnosed with EPI and then oral cancer and had surgery that successfully removed the cancer. With treatment for her EPI, she was able to lead a normal life and traveled all over with me and had many fans on the streets of NYC.🗽 She loved all the admiration and attention and did not hesitate to make a scene when she didn’t want to go home😂. She survived bloat and more recently pneumonia, once again beating the odds. But now her EPI has advanced to the final horrible stage and she is in pain and unable to stop losing weight. I am heartbroken.💔 I have lost pets before but this is especially painful and I wish we had more time together. Thank you Kiyoshi for changing my life for the better and for all the laughs, drama, and memories. I know you will be somewhere giving the royal side eye and enjoying zoomies in the snow. You will be with me always. 💔🐕👑
