It’s truly an honor to have our good friend from France 🇫🇷 .herve_ stop by Kano Martial Arts and share his techniques and wisdom with our members. Great concepts for even our beginners to understand. Such clean technique and wonderful gripping strategies. Merci. 🥋🙇

In the chaos of Judo, the instinct is to rush. Grip harder. Move faster. Force the moment. But sometimes the opening only appears when you breathe. One breath to quiet the noise, one breath to feel the balance shift, one breath to see what wasn’t visible in the storm. In that pause, the path reveals itself.

Shoulder Crunch Sweep Breakdown 🔥

Watch Kano Martial Arts BJJ Professor Christopher demonstrate the shoulder crunch sweep—a powerful technique that turns defense into offense from the guard. By controlling the shoulder and breaking your opponent’s posture, you create the perfect angle to sweep and take the top position.

Simple, effective, and essential for anyone training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced grappler, mastering details like this will elevate your guard game.

Train smarter. Stay sharp. See you on the mats.

In judo, you don’t silence the chaos, you study it. You feel its rhythm and let it rush toward you. You don’t resist the force, you redirect it. You don’t panic in the imbalance, you create it. Control isn’t about overpowering the storm, it’s about knowing exactly when to move inside it. Maximum efficiency, mutual welfare, calm mind. The chaos was never the enemy, it was the lesson.

Greatness isn’t a trophy you win; it’s the standard you set for yourself when no one is watching. It’s built in the quiet moments, the hard repetitions, and the refusal to quit.

Randori: The goal is not to “win,” but to develop skill, awareness, and proper application of technique through dynamic exchange.

This reflects Kanō’s principle of learning through mutual practice and continuous adjustment. Your skills will always build upon other skills. Randori is the time to put those to put those skills to the test. Every missed throw or foot sweep is not a failure but instead data for you to take into consideration into what your body and maybe even mind needs to recalibrate. This is a sport not only about strength but also timing. Give yourself grace, then, gracefully sweep your partner off their feet 🤘

Jigorō Kanō once said, “It does not matter how many times you fall, what matters is the discipline to get up one more time than you fell.”

Resilience isn’t about being bulletproof; it’s about being persistent. The mat teaches us how to land, but the mind teaches us how to stand back up. 🥋✨
