UVLD partner David Rees recently stepped away from his corporate lighting projects to serve as Lighting Designer for the North American tour of Bat Out of Hell – The Musical. Based on the iconic music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf, the acclaimed rock theatrical production featured an electrifying live band performing on stage alongside sprawling multi-level platforms, transporting audiences from Raven’s bedroom to the underground world of The Lost.

The tour required a design that was both quick to load in and capable of delivering the show’s scale, excitement, and visual impact during one-night engagements. Christie Lites’ Brad Gray supplied a comprehensive lighting package consisting of Martin MAC Encore CLD Performance, Martin MAC Ultra Performance, Martin MAC Aura XB, GLP Impression X4 Bar 20, Elation Elar 108 Pars, and Fine Art 1200C Strobes.

UVLD’s Matt Webb, David Seitz, and Helena Magee teamed up with our fantastic partners at Jack Morton Worldwide once again this past April to light up the Google Cloud Next 26 conference in Las Vegas. We were thrilled to collaborate with producer Jesse Medofer, technical director Dave Campanile, and creative director Michael Downs to deliver this awesome event! Production Electrician Jeff Quinn led the install team, with equipment supplied by Rob Charnetski and Christies Lites. Congratulations to the whole team on an awesome show! UVLD was proud to partner with the exceptional team at Corporate Magic to light up the 100th anniversary celebration of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas this past fall.

Held at Fair Park, the event spanned multiple venues, with UVLD providing a robust onsite team to support four of them, including a headliner concert at the Cotton Bowl with Janet Jackson and Blake Shelton.

Led by lighting designer Jeff Nellis, the design team included David Rees, Thomas Pendergrass, and Sieun Ye. Special thanks, as always, to our outstanding electricians: Bill Hopkins, Mike Covino, Johnny Washam, Mark Maiocco, Eric Yee, Drew Scott, Russ Matoes, and Andrew Kress. Equipment was provided by our partners at Live Events and Clearwing.

Very special thanks to Jim Kirk and the entire Corporate Magic team, and executive producer Chris Laue.

It was an unforgettable celebration, and we’re honored to have been part of it. Here’s to the next 100 years of this remarkable organization!

What a week in Las Vegas. 🎰✨

UVLD’s Greg Cohen and David Rees had the best time working alongside some of our favorite collaborators — executive producers Karen McGetrick and Steve Coleman, show caller Alice Perlmutter, technical directors Erik Hendricks and Jake Siekman, and a crew of absolute rockstars including the very camera-friendly Johnny Washam and Tim Donovan.

The NDA stays locked, but smiling faces are fair game. 😊

Lighting keynotes for Nvidia, Samsung, and Siemens, UVLD’s Paul Sharwell, Jeff Nellis, David Rees, David Seitz, Sam Swagert, and Abby Wells were there bringing light to the new year. Thanks as always to all of our awesome clients and partners!

2025 is a WRAP, and what a gift it has been! We are beyond grateful to all of our amazing clients and the trust they put in us, all of the amazing projects and opportunities, all of our parters and vendors and collaborators, our phenomenal bench of electricians who make it all happen, our incredibly cool jobs, and of course the absolutely phenomenal cast of characters that is our UVLD team. A very Happy New Year to all, and here’s to an equally great 2026!

When road family meets home family, the total is WAY more than the sum of the parts. Many thanks to Matt Webb and his wife Rose for hosting this UVLD extravaganza at their home in Texas, bringing together the lighting teams from Prestonwood’s The Gift of Christmas and from the United Way 100 year celebration, both in production concurrently earlier this month in the Dallas area. To say Matt’s BBQ was better than anything on the Texas top 10 would not be an exaggeration! Too many people in this photo to name, but call outs to the UVLD members in attendance: Matt Webb, Greg Norgeot, Jeff Nellis, David Rees, David Seitz, Sam Swagert, and Sieun Ye. From our families to your families, wishing a warm and peaceful holiday season to all!
