Took my six year old deer hunting for the first time. Yesterday, in the first minute of legal shooting light, I shot this cull buck.

This started as a small project and gained some scope creep. But it makes a great deer blind and club house for the grandkids.

This is the day I got hooked. It wasn't about the kill . It was about sitting peacefully watching the world wake up in the woods. It was about how no matter what I carried on my shoulders or what hurt I felt. In this place I felt at peace.

We were camping, of course we had to practice our shed hunting while we were out! I had fun setting up our antlers for Watzit to find and she had fun searching the leaves for them. We still have a long way to go with this sport but I think this is turning into Watzit’s second favorite sniffing game (only behind barn hunt).
