Sikh Officers Association and NYPD Host Landmark Vaisakhi Celebration at 1 Police Plaza
NEW YORK, NY — The Sikh Officers Association (SOA) and NYPD Headquarters recently hosted a distinguished celebration in honor of Vaisakhi at 1 Police Plaza. This event marked a significant cultural milestone for the department and celebrated the rich heritage of New York City’s vibrant Sikh community.
The celebration was a resounding success, expertly organized by the SOA. It served as a powerful testament to the Department’s steadfast commitment to diversity and inclusion, while further strengthening the vital bonds between law enforcement and the diverse communities they are sworn to protect and serve.
Honoring Leadership and Legacy
A primary highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Mayor Singh “Swarnjit Singh” (Swarnjit Singh Khalsa) of Norwich. The SOA recognized Mayor Singh for his trailblazing leadership and his unwavering dedication to public service and civil rights.
