Χάλκινο άγαλμα Διός ή Ποσειδώνος. Βρέθηκε στο βυθό της θάλασσας κοντά στο ακρωτήριο Αρτεμίσιο στη Β. Εύβοια. Περίπου 460 π.Χ. - Αθήνα, Εθνικό Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο.

🇬🇷 Ο θεός, σε έντονο διασκελισμό, τεντώνει μπροστά το αριστερό χέρι, ενώ με το δεξί κρατούσε κεραυνό ή την τρίαινα. Οι γνώμες διίστανται για το αν αποδίδεται ο Δίας ή ο Ποσειδώνας (πιθανότερη φαίνεται η πρώτη άποψη). Ανεξάρτητα από το πρόβλημα αυτό, το άγαλμα είναι ένα από τα λίγα σωζόμενα πρωτότυπα έργα του αυστηρού ρυθμού με θαυμάσια απόδοση της κίνησης και της διάπλασης του κορμιού, αναμφίβολα δημιούργημα μεγάλου γλύπτη της πρώιμης κλασικής εποχής.
🌍 The god, shown in great stride, extends his left arm before his body, while holding a thunderbolt or trident in his right hand. His identification as Zeus or Poseidon is controversial (the former identification is more probable). It is one of the few preserved original statues of the Severe Style, notable for the exquisite rendering of motion and anatomy. It is certainly the work of a great sculptor of the Early Classical period.
