! Winterberry is found throughout Brooklyn Bridge Park - its berries provide an important food source for the birds that overwinter here, and its dense, evergreen thicket also provides shelter for birds. Our Park is managed ecologically, which includes plants that support the native ecosystem.

It was the Conservancy's first event hosted at Emily Warren Roebling Plaza we had a blast with dance instructor Luca Diaz and NYC's .band! Attendees learned the basics of "on-2" salsa then danced the night away under the Brooklyn Bridge. What style of dance would you like to see next?

- check out this Hermit Thrush! These ground dwelling birds are currently passing through our neighborhoods as they migrate to warmer Southern lands for their nonbreeding season. The hermit thrush seeks out food by “foot quivering” where they disturb the grass with their feet to find insects. This means they are rarely seen at the average backyard feeder, preferring the cover of trees and shrubs as they forage on the ground. If you head out bird-watching this month, don’t just look to the trees or you may just miss this feathered friend!
