Christopher Newport Varsity Sailing Team Sail Fast, GO CAPTAINS! Women's and Coed teams travel as far north as Ontario and as far south as Florida.

-The Varsity Sailing Team competes in the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA), one of the most competitive sailing conferences in the United States. There are many beautiful venues the team travels to that offer fantastic racing but few can top the beauty and excitement of CNU's home waters of the Southern Chesapeake Bay.

Jefferson Cup recap
4th out of 8 at UVA's Lake Anna, just 2 points off the podium. Wild wind all weekend: heavy breeze Saturday that eased through the afternoon, then steady conditions Sunday let the RC get to 10 races per division.
Griffin Donahoe and Ber Van der Meer took a bullet in A division race 8. Charles Willmarth and Hannah Roethel grabbed 2nd in B division race 6. We filed a redress request that was disallowed, but the fight was there all weekend. 82 total points — 2 behind Maryland for 3rd and only 6 off Hampton for 2nd.
Ber and Griffin split skipper duties in A with Hannah crewing. Charles helmed B with Jacob and Hannah rotating crew. Corine held down reserves and kept the team running on shore. Five sailors, two boats, zero quit.
Thank you to all the families who made the trip to Lake Anna — we could hear you cheering from NN 💙

Happy birthday to MC McAllister! 🎂
One of the Girls with Pearls, a team captain in her day, Class of 2014 — and today Yacht Club VP and a CNSF board member. CNU Sailing runs in her blood and always has.
MC is an extremely unreasonable person, which around here is the highest compliment we hand out. She doesn't take "that's just how it is" for an answer. A great deal of this comeback happened because of work she did quietly in the background. That's her.
An all-around incredible human. One year closer to premium adult status, though we all know she got there a while ago.

Who remembers this on the wall of the old sailing center? 🧭
1993 Ice Free Invitational. A full CNU fleet, red foulies all round, and a February that very clearly did not care about anyone's comfort.
From the Dan Winters collection. Huge thanks to alum Luke Hayes for keeping it safe the last five years.

Off the water and onto the couch.
Ber, Hannah, and Griffin joined hosts Peter and Colleen on CNU On the Lawn for Season 5, Episode 2. Tune in to hear how they got hooked on sailing, what keeps them busy off the water, which sailor's last name literally translates to "of the water," and who got to meet the founder of the original CNU sailing club.
Huge thanks to Peter, Colleen, and the whole On the Lawn crew for having us and sharing a little bit of sailing with campus.
