Really working to welcome the messages of my perimenopausal hormones. And you know what? Kinda like my grandmother, B-ma (short for her chosen moniker, Big Mama), her messages started loud and demanded nothing less than my full attention. They echoed her southern Ray-CHUUL call. And like her, once they had my ear, softened to an invitation into wisdom, grace, and mischievous joy. ✨We’re working on bestie status.
Do your hormones remind you of anyone? Or is it just me? 🤍

Hibiscus is supremely cooling and traditionally used for summer heat, high blood pressure and heart health. Get professional advice on enjoying hibiscus if you take blood pressure medication.
Lemon Balm & Spearmint are both cooling and relaxing, too. 🏖️
Summer Solstice Sun Tea
• 1/3 cup dried Hibiscus calyces
With optional sprigs of any cooling, relaxing, flavor mellowing friends you have on hand:
• Mint (I plucked spearmint)
• Lemon Balm
• oooh. even though she’s warming, Holy Basil would’ve been nice flavor & calming, too. A sprig or two wouldn’t be strong enough to heat hibiscus’s energy. ❄️
Cover with enough water to fill a 2 quart/half gallon jar. Add lid & let sit in the sun for about 2 hours then strain and sweeten to taste.
Aim to lean in to summer’s expansion and release, joy and connection from a place that honors your needs. 🌱
If everything really does come back to hormones…this awareness is powerful!
May being drawn to rest and joy come naturally to us today. May we listen and fall in with ease.

My outta bed hair is a liar. Because my morning garden checks are 1000% white linen dress and rosy filtered light vibes.

Calendula is often listed as a companion plant because it attracts unwanted bugs from your veggies. But what’s a herbalist to do when she doesn’t want a trap crop to do that job?!
Call in some aromatic herb pals, of course!

Some fears, coping patterns, and emotional responses are inherited through generations before we ever have language for them.
A beautiful thing about patterns is they can be witnessed. And once we witness them, we can begin changing them. For ourselves. And the generations that follow us.
